Where You Come In

We are seeking a Canteen Manager,



to profitably run the central canteen, adhering to CGU policies. This role involves fostering strong relationships within the university and ensuring nutritious, hygienic, and timely food service that encourages healthy eating.

Supervision Details:

Immediate Supervisor: Administrative Officer

Indirect Supervisor: President, Vice President, Registrar, Finance Officer

Direct Reportees: Canteen Supervisor, Canteen Cooks, Canteen service staffs, KST Supervisor

Working Relationship: Dy. Registrar, Chief Finance Officer, Chief Warden of Hostels, Department Heads, Business Heads, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Purchase Officer, Admin Head, Security Head and Personnel officer and Legal Officer.

Job Location: CGU Campus, Bhubaneswar

Duties & Responsibilities

General Duties:

- Manage profitable canteen operations adhering to CGU policies.
- Foster positive relationships with stakeholders (students, parents, etc.).
- Ensure timely, nutritious, and hygienic food preparation and service.
- Generate reports on consumption, waste, inventory, and manage purchasing.
- Oversee daily canteen functioning and implement healthy food policies.
- Brief staff daily, maintain a positive work environment, and ensure security.
- Manage stock (ordering, checking, levels, storage) and handle occasional shopping.
- Coordinate catering for special events and conduct stocktaking.
- Efficiently prepare food with portion control and supervise/roster staff and volunteers.
- Manage biometric attendance, onboard volunteers, and verify their training.

Essential Duties:

- Transaction Software: Implement software for efficient recording of canteen transactions and record-keeping.
- Inventory & Audits: Conduct regular and annual stocktakes; liaise with Finance and auditors.
- Commercial & Administrative Management: Oversee all commercial and administrative functions.
- Staff Supervision: Supervise all canteen staff (in-house and third-party).
- Administrative & Client Management: Handle administrative requests and client interactions.
- Merchandise Ordering:



Order merchandise from local and international suppliers.
- Customs Clearance: Obtain customs clearance for imported merchandise.
- Merchandise Receiving: Receive and check all purchased merchandise.
- Stock Management: Manage stock levels and minimize write-offs.
- Invoice Payment: Pay supplier invoices.
- Hygiene Maintenance: Ensure the hygiene of the canteen premises and surrounding areas.
- Duty-Free Import Compliance: Monitor compliance with duty-free importation limits.
- Allowance Control: Control available duty-free allowances before issuance.
- Cost Savings: Engage with Procurement and Finance to identify cost-saving opportunities through centralized purchasing.
- Policy & Procedure Assistance: Assist in reviewing and updating canteen policies and procedures with Finance.
- Budget Assistance: Assist in the preparation of canteen budgets with Finance.
- Other Finance-Related Duties: Perform other duties as required by the Finance Officer.

Operational Duties:

- Daily Operations Management: Plan, organize, and monitor daily canteen operations, including staff rostering, record-keeping, and food service.
- Food Service Delivery: Develop and implement procedures for timely and affordable food service, providing leadership to staff and volunteers.
- Supply & Financial Management: Order and check supplies, process payments, reconcile accounts, and manage stock levels.
- Food Safety & Hygiene: Implement food safety procedures, ensure proper food handling and hygiene practices, and train staff accordingly.
- Canteen Maintenance & Safety: Ensure canteen security, maintain a safe and clean environment, and manage equipment maintenance.

Who Are We Looking For

- Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management or a related field with a valuable academic track record
- At least 5 years or more of relevant experience
