Nurse Coach

Community Empowerment Lab (CEL)

Full-time | Facility-based | Mission-driven

Good nursing is rooted in compassion and deepens through skill.
If you can nurture both, this role is for you.

About CEL

Community Empowerment Lab (CEL) works to end preventable deaths in mothers and newborns. For over 20 years, we have brought science and compassion together to build solutions that save lives — one mother, one baby, one community at a time. We work in Uttar Pradesh and other states in India, alongside communities, health workers, and the public health system.

The Role

A Nurse Coach is not a supervisor. She is a living example.

She leads by doing — washing her hands the way she wants others to wash theirs, touching a newborn with the care she wants every baby to receive, speaking to a mother with the respect every woman deserves. Through her own practice, she rekindles something in the nurses around her: the memory of why they chose this path.

This is not easy work. The hours are long, and health system environments may be challenging. You will sometimes feel alone in your standards. But you will not be alone in your mission. At CEL, you will be supported, mentored, and valued.

Being a nurse coach is not about giving instructions. It is about awakening clinical conscience.

What You Will Do

You will move across facilities in the public health system — district hospitals, health centres, birthing units. You will stay embedded in clinical care, so you continue to grow your skills.

- Work alongside staff nurses, showing the standard of care through your own hands — not through lectures alone.

- Coach nurses with patience and without ego. Help them see what good, compassionate care looks and feels like.

- Build the confidence of frontline nurses in essential clinical skills through hands-on support.

- Create easy protocols and guides that any nurse can follow — not rigid rules, but clear pathways to better care.

- Spot gaps in practice with an honest eye,

and address them through trust and teaching — never through blame.

- Create safe spaces where nurses can reflect: what went well, what went wrong, what they need help with.

- Share what you see — clinical patterns, gaps, stories — so that CEL’s programs can learn from the frontline.

Two Speciality Tracks

We are building two areas of deep expertise. You may apply for one or both, based on your experience and interest.

Midwifery & Intrapartum Care

Newborn Care

Focus areas:

Don’t worry if you do not fit perfectly into one track. If you have the right heart and are willing to learn, we will help you grow.

Requirements

Who You Are

You may not have the longest CV. What you carry is harder to find:

- A nurse or midwife with at least 2–3 years of clinical experience. If your experience is in a different area but your heart is in this work, we want to hear from you.

- Deep integrity — you do the right thing even when no one is watching.

- Real empathy. You see the mother, not just the patient. You see the nurse, not just the task.

- Service before self. You do not need the title or the credit. You need the work to be done well.

- Humility to learn from everyone — senior doctors, field workers, mothers — and courage to teach without arrogance.

- Comfort with solving problems in difficult settings. You will not wait for perfect conditions to give excellent care.

- Willingness to travel and move between facilities as needed.

Location

Facility-based across Uttar Pradesh and other parts of India. You will have a base clinical station, but the role needs you to be mobile across facilities and will require travel.

To Apply

Please send your CV with a short note (in cover letter) — in your own words, in any language — telling us:

- Why did you become a nurse?

- Tell us about one moment with a patient that changed you.

- What does it mean to you to lead without ego?
