Job Overview

Apollo Hospitals Jabalpur is hiring an experienced Perfusionist to manage cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) procedures during open-heart surgeries and other critical cardiac operations. The selected candidate will work alongside cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, and ICU teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes during complex procedures.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate and manage the heart-lung machine (cardiopulmonary bypass system) during cardiac surgeries.
- Monitor and regulate patient blood flow, oxygenation levels, and circulatory support throughout the procedure.
- Administer cardioplegia solutions to induce cardiac arrest and myocardial protection during surgery.
- Collaborate with cardiac surgeons and anesthesiologists to adjust perfusion parameters based on patient needs.
- Manage and troubleshoot blood conservation techniques, hemodilution, and blood gas monitoring.
- Handle extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) systems in critically ill patients.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, sterility, and NABH/NABL accreditation standards.
- Maintain accurate records of perfusion procedures, equipment calibration, and patient data.
- Assist in training junior perfusionists, nurses, and ICU teams in cardiac perfusion techniques.
- Stay updated with advancements in perfusion technology and cardiovascular surgery protocols.

Required Skills & Qualifications





- Degree/Diploma in Perfusion Technology from a recognized institution.
- 5-10 years of experience in a hospital-based Cardiothoracic Surgery & Cardiology Department.
- Expertise in cardiopulmonary bypass, ECMO, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), and blood salvage techniques.
- Solid understanding of hemodynamics, oxygenation, acid-base balance, and anticoagulation therapy.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations in the operating room (OR) and critical care units.
- Proficiency in monitoring patient vitals, blood gas analysis, and managing emergencies during bypass surgery.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
