Role purpose:

As a Guidewire Business Systems Consultant (Lead), you own functional solution integrity and delivery alignment for Guidewire initiatives across one or more business units or domains. You are accountable for ensuring that business intent is translated into scalable, compliant, and reusable Guidewire solutions that perform reliably in production.





This role goes beyond requirements execution to include functional leadership, decision ownership, and platform stewardship across run and change.

Key responsibilities:

Functional ownership & solution leadership:

Own end to end functional solution definition for Guidewire initiatives covering:

- Insurance Suite (Policy Center, Billing Center, Claim Center)
- Digital journeys (Engage, Jutro)
- Integration driven and cross system use cases
- Analyze and propose solutions leveraging out of the box (OOTB) Guidewire capabilities, approving customizations only were justified
- Own functional tradeoffs, assumptions, and design decisions
- Ensure solutions align to standardized products, processes, and functional blueprints

Business partnership & demand shaping:

Partner with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and BU leadership to:

- Clarify objectives and success criteria
- Shape solution options and sequencing
- Perform cost/benefit analysis, risk assessments, and scope definition
- Guide stakeholders in building business cases and impact assessments
- Evaluate impacts across underwriting, claims, billing, finance, and operations

Requirements & backlog governance:

Govern the quality and readiness of:

- Epics, features, and user stories
- Acceptance criteria and non-functional requirements
- Ensure stories are complete, testable, and implementation ready
- Maintain traceability from business goals to delivered outcomes
- Act as the functional authority for backlog prioritization and clarification

Delivery & Agile leadership:

- Lead functional activities across Agile delivery teams

Facilitate and own outcomes from:

- Inception and discovery workshops
- Sprint planning, grooming, demos, and retrospectives
- Coordinate closely with Developers, QE,



and Release teams to ensure functional intent is delivered correctly
- Support configuration validation, integration testing, and release readiness

Run ownership & operational continuity:

- Own functional support for L2/L3 production issues
- Lead functional root cause analysis for defects and recurring incidents
- Ensure production issues are resolved with sustainable functional fixes
- Drive reduction in defect leakage and business disruption

Standards, reuse & continuous improvement:

Promote reuse of functional assets including:

- Product and process blueprints
- Rating, rules, and workflow patterns
- Reduce functional variation across business units
- Ensure adherence to Zurich and CIP functional standards
- Continuously improve functional quality, clarity, and delivery efficiency

Mentoring & capability development:

- Mentor Senior and Intermediate BSAs
- Guide teams on functional modelling, story quality, and solution thinking
- Reduce key person dependency through documentation and knowledge sharing
- Support onboarding and academy initiatives for BSA capability development

Required skills & experience:

- 10–12+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst in enterprise environments
- Strong hands on experience with Guidewire platforms
- Deep understanding of P&C; insurance business processes
- Proven experience leading functional workstreams or domains
- Strong Agile delivery and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication abilities
