Job Description: A Control Room Operator (CRO) for the Sponge Iron Division (SID) in a steel plant is responsible for operating and monitoring Rotary Kilns (DRI Plant) via Distributed Control Systems (DCS) to ensure optimal production, quality, and safety. Key tasks include managing kiln temperatures, feed rates, addressing process anomalies like kiln jams, and ensuring adherence to SOPs to maximize sponge iron output. Key Responsibilities:

- Process Monitoring: Continuously operate and monitor DRI Kiln parameters (temperature, pressure, gas analysis, rotation speed) from the control room.
- Production Optimization: Control raw material feeding and burner management to meet production targets.
- Troubleshooting: Address critical operational issues, including kiln hold-ups, cooler issues, feed losses, and kiln shell hot spots.
- Safety Compliance:



Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols (LOTO) and handle emergency shutdowns effectively.
- Reporting: Maintain detailed shift logs, production data, and incident reports, analyzing them for efficiency improvements.

Requirements:

- Education: Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Metallurgy) or BSc/MSc.
- Experience: Generally 2–8+ years in Sponge Iron/DRI plant operations, with experience in a, 350 TPD or higher capacity plant, often mentioned in Jobitus.
- Skills: Solid knowledge of kiln operations, DCS/SCADA operation, troubleshooting capabilities, and team coordination
