Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Test Data Engineer to design, architect, and manage complex test data ecosystems. In this role, you will ensure our QA, automated testing, and development teams have high-quality, compliant, and synthetically generated data. You will bridge the gap between database administration, data privacy compliance, and automated software testing. [1, 2, 3]
Key Responsibilities
- Data Strategy: Design end-to-end Test Data Management (TDM) strategies across multi-tiered enterprise applications.
- Automation: Integrate test data generation, conditioning, and provisioning into active CI/CD deployment pipelines.
- Privacy & Compliance: Implement data masking, anonymisation, and obfuscation techniques on production data copies to adhere to GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA regulations.
- Synthetic Generation: Create high-fidelity synthetic test datasets from scratch when production data is unavailable or insufficient.
- Subsetting: Extract lean, referentially intact database subsets to optimize storage and accelerate test execution times. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Required Technical Skills
- Databases: Strong proficiency in relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL environments (MongoDB, Cassandra). [1, 2]
- TDM Tools: Hands-on experience with specialized tools like Delphix,
IBM InfoSphere Optim, CA Test Data Manager (Broadcom), or Informatica TDM. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Languages: Advanced SQL scripting and proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Bash) for custom utility building.
- CI/CD & DevOps: Familiarity with Jenkins, GitLab CI, Docker, and Kubernetes for provisioning data on demand.
- Mocking Frameworks: Experience with data mocking libraries (e.g., Faker, Mockito, WireMock). [1, 2]
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 4+ years of dedicated experience in Test Data Management (TDM) or Data Engineering.
- Deep understanding of data modeling, database schemas, and referential integrity constraints.
️ Need this in a specific file format for your test script?
If you are testing an automated ingestion pipeline or a parser, I can format this text into a clean JSON object, a CSV string, or a Markdown file.
To help me customize this for your test setting, let me know:
- What file format does your test system require (e.g., JSON, YAML, plain text)?
- Do you need specific edge cases embedded (e.g., special characters, missing fields, or massive file sizes)?
- What is the primary function of the system you are testing? [1, 2]
