Candidates with a Master's degree such as M.Sc. Candidates possessing professional certifications in GIS & Remote Sensing, Mine Planning, Mineral Resource Estimation, Geological Modelling, Drone Surveying, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Project Management, or Mine Safety will have an added advantage.
Relevant Work Experience
Candidates with 6 to 10 years of progressive professional experience in geological investigations, mineral exploration, mining consultancy, geological modelling, mine planning support, government mining projects, natural resource management, or technical advisory are eligible to apply for this position.
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in geological mapping, mineral exploration, resource estimation, technical due diligence, geological data interpretation, DPR preparation, mine planning support, statutory approvals, GIS-based analysis, and technical advisory for Government Departments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), mining companies, or consulting organisations. Experience in PMUs, District Mineral Foundation (DMF) projects, exploration programmes, mining policy implementation, or regulatory compliance will be an added advantage.
Role Overview
The Specialist - Geology will independently lead geological and technical workstreams for Government Departments and Public Institutions, providing subject matter expertise across mineral exploration, geological investigations, mine planning support, and natural resource management projects. The role involves managing technical assessments, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and delivering high-quality technical advisory and consulting outputs.
The role requires strong expertise in applied geology, mineral exploration, geological data interpretation, resource assessment, and mining sector advisory, along with the ability to engage confidently with government officials, technical experts, regulatory authorities, and project stakeholders. The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting mineral resource management, geological investigations, mine planning, technical due diligence, infrastructure planning, and mining sector development initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Geological Project Leadership & Delivery: Lead geological and mining-related technical workstreams across government consulting engagements, ensuring high-quality technical outputs, adherence to project timelines, effective coordination, and successful achievement of project objectives and client expectations.
- Geological Assessment & Technical Advisory: Lead geological investigations, mineral resource assessments, geological mapping, exploration data analysis, and technical evaluations. Provide strategic technical advice to support mineral resource management, mining projects, and government decision-making.
- Client Advisory & Relationship Management: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for government clients on assigned projects. Build and maintain effective working relationships with Government Departments, mining authorities, technical agencies, consultants, and other key stakeholders.
- Technical Report Writing & Deliverables: Prepare and review high-quality geological reports, technical assessments, feasibility studies, DPR inputs, resource estimation reports, geological models, presentations, and other client deliverables. Ensure technical accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Project Management & Technical Implementation Support: Support planning, execution, monitoring, and coordination of geological investigations, exploration programmes, mining studies, and technical consulting assignments. Monitor project milestones, manage technical risks, and ensure timely delivery of project outputs.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination: Coordinate with Government Departments, mining agencies, exploration teams, regulatory authorities, consultants, and implementation partners to facilitate project execution, technical reviews, workshops, and stakeholder consultations.
- Geological Data Analysis & Resource Evaluation: Analyse geological, geophysical, geochemical, drilling, and exploration data to support mineral resource estimation, geological modelling, mine planning, and evidence-based technical recommendations.
- Bid & Proposal Development: Lead or contribute to the preparation of technical proposals, Expressions of Interest (EOIs), and RFP responses for mining and geological consulting assignments. Develop technical methodologies, work plans, project approaches, and technical documentation.
- Team Management & Mentoring: Supervise and mentor junior geologists, Analysts, and technical team members. Allocate work, review technical outputs, provide structured feedback, and support career development within project teams.
- Regulatory Compliance & Technical Due Diligence: Provide technical support for statutory approvals, mining lease documentation, geological compliance, regulatory submissions, and technical due diligence in accordance with applicable mining laws, regulations, and government guidelines.
- Capacity Building & Knowledge Transfer: Design and facilitate technical training programmes, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions for government officials, client teams, and project stakeholders on geological investigations, mineral resource management, and best industry practices.
- Technology Integration & Innovation: Promote the use of GIS, Remote Sensing, geological modelling software, drone surveys, digital mapping tools, and data analytics to improve geological assessments, resource evaluation, and project delivery.
- Quality Assurance & Technical Excellence: Review geological investigations, exploration methodologies, technical documentation, and project deliverables to ensure compliance with professional standards, industry best practices, and client requirements.
- Knowledge Management & Thought Leadership: Contribute to the firm's knowledge management initiatives through development of technical papers, geological case studies, best practices, reusable technical assets, and thought leadership publications in the mining and natural resources sector.
- Field Investigations & Site Assessments: Lead and participate in geological field investigations, mine inspections, exploration activities, resource verification, stakeholder consultations, and site assessments to monitor project progress and support informed technical decision-making.
- Additional Project Responsibilities: Undertake any additional responsibilities assigned by the Engagement Manager or Senior Leadership in alignment with project priorities, client requirements, and organisational objectives.

Candidates with prior experience in leading geological studies, resource assessment, mine planning support, coordinating with Government Departments, regulatory authorities, and delivering high-quality technical advisory assignments will be preferred.
Preference will also be given to candidates with experience in mining sector projects, PMUs, geological mapping, GIS and Remote Sensing, mineral resource estimation, technical due diligence, statutory compliance, infrastructure or natural resource development projects, along with willingness to travel extensively for field investigations and project-related assignments.
