Job Purpose

- Manage end-to-end local procurement activities for the steel plant.
- Ensure timely availability of materials, spares, consumables, and services to support uninterrupted plant operations.
- Develop and manage a solid local supplier base across Nigeria.
- Optimize procurement costs while ensuring quality, compliance, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Handle procurement of locally sourced raw materials, consumables, engineering spares, MRO items, and plant services.
- Source, evaluate, and onboard reliable local suppliers and contractors.
- Negotiate prices, commercial terms, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors.
- Prepare RFQs, evaluate quotations, conduct commercial comparisons, and issue purchase orders.
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Stores, Finance, and other departments to understand procurement requirements.
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of critical materials to avoid production downtime.




- Monitor supplier performance with respect to quality, cost, and delivery.
- Develop alternate suppliers to reduce procurement risks and improve competitiveness.
- Maintain procurement records, contracts, and vendor documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and local statutory requirements.
- Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and local sourcing.
- Resolve supplier-related issues, including quality, delivery, and commercial disputes.
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams for smooth material receipt.
- Prepare procurement MIS reports, cost-saving reports, and supplier performance reports.
- Support internal and external procurement audits.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes.
