Cash Custodian is responsible for the secure handling, recording, and reconciliation of cash and other cash-equivalent items within an organization (such as a bank, retail store, hotel, hospital, or corporate office).

Key Responsibilities of a Cash Custodian

Receive and safeguard cash, cheques, and other negotiable instruments.

Count and verify cash at the beginning and end of each shift.

Maintain accurate records of all cash receipts and payments.

Prepare and reconcile daily cash reports with system records.

Ensure all cash transactions comply with company policies and internal controls.

Deposit cash into the bank or arrange secure cash collection.

Maintain petty cash and process reimbursements where applicable.

Investigate and report any cash shortages, overages, or discrepancies immediately.

Keep cash vaults, safes, and cash drawers secure at all times.

Assist during internal and external audits by providing required documentation.





Coordinate with finance, operations, or bank personnel regarding cash-related issues.

Ensure confidentiality and security of financial information.
