Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in INDIA (Delhi or Mumbai /Nashik or WFH ) for a Process Safety & Risk Assessment Engineer / Consultant with 3–8 years of experience. The role involves conducting process hazard analyses, quantitative risk assessments, and safety studies for industrial facilities, including onshore and offshore operations. The engineer / consultant will develop and review process safety documentation, risk mitigation plans, and design recommendations, ensuring alignment with applicable standards and client requirements.

Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing process data, participating in client meetings and workshops, preparing technical reports and presentations, and supporting audits and compliance assessments. The role also requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to training sessions, and assisting in continuous improvement of HSSE frameworks and tools.

Qualifications

Strong analytical skills, including ability to interpret complex process data and perform quantitative risk assessment.

Experience in business process improvement, with a focus on optimizing safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Effective communication skills for preparing clear technical reports, delivering presentations, and engaging with client stakeholders.

Customer service orientation,



with the ability to understand client needs and provide responsive, value-driven consulting support.

Experience in training or facilitating workshops on process safety, risk assessment, and HSSE best practices.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.

3–8 years of relevant experience in process safety engineering, risk assessment, or HSSE consulting in energy, chemical, or related industries.

Familiarity with international and regional standards and methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, SIL, NFPA, API, IEC).

Proficiency in relevant engineering and risk assessment software tools and MS Office applications.

Ability to work in a multicultural environment, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Execute and deliver a wide range of Process Safety and Risk Assessment Studies, including:

Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA)

Fire & Explosion Risk Analysis (FERA)

Building Risk Assessment (BRA)

Reliability, Accessibility and Maintainability (RAM) Facility Siting Studies

Fire and Gas Detector Mapping Study (F&G; Mapping)

Escape, Evacuation & Rescue Analysis (EERA)

Hazard and Operating (HAZOP) & Hazard Identification (HAZID)

Consequence Modeling and Risk Assessment

Support and participate in HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, and HAZID workshops, including:

Scribing of HAZOP-SIL and HAZID sessions

HAZOP node marking and node boundary identification

Documentation and closure of workshop actions

Demonstrate working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and international standards.

Conduct Process Safety Audits and gap assessments to evaluate compliance with corporate, regulatory, and industry requirements, identify improvement opportunities, and strengthen safety management systems.

Perform site visits to gather plant data,



understand process operations, verify layouts, and validate study assumptions and inputs.

Develop and review technical reports, risk registers, and study deliverables, ensuring accuracy, quality, and incorporation of client comments.

Plan, schedule, and coordinate project activities, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of assignments within budget and quality requirements.

Interface directly with clients through technical discussions, presentations, workshops, and review meetings to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables.

Support business development activities by providing technical inputs, preparing proposals, and participating in client engagements when required.

Software Skills The candidate should have hands-on experience or working knowledge of the following tools:

PHAST / Safeti or equivalent software for consequence and risk modelling

FLACS / FLACS-CFD for explosion and dispersion modelling (Optional)

Detect 3D or equivalent software for F&G; Mapping

MAROS or equivalent software for RAM

PHA-Pro or equivalent HAZOP and SIL Classification software

BowTieXP for Bow-Tie Analysis

AutoCAD for layout review and interpretation

Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of process safety engineering principles and risk assessment methodologies.

Excellent technical report writing, review, and presentation skills.

Ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs;, plot plans, and process documentation.

Effective stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.

Ability to work independently as well as within multidisciplinary teams.

Qualification

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Chemical/ Petrochemical engineering, Safety Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.

3 to 8 years of relevant experience in Process Safety, Risk Assessment, and HSE Consulting projects.
