About the Role

We are seeking a News Researcher (Freelancer) to support advanced AI evaluation initiatives focused on news research, fact verification, source validation, media intelligence, and AI-generated news content evaluation.

In this role, you will conduct structured news research, verify information from credible sources, evaluate AI-generated news articles and summaries, and analyze current events across multiple domains. Your expertise will help improve AI systems designed for news retrieval, fact-checking, summarization, media monitoring, and editorial intelligence.

This position is ideal for professionals with experience in journalism, news research, editorial operations, media analysis, fact-checking, communications, public policy, or investigative research.

Responsibilities

- Create deliverables addressing real-world news research and media intelligence scenarios.
- Conduct structured research using trusted news organizations, government publications, official statements, regulatory announcements, corporate disclosures, and verified public sources.
- Verify facts, dates, quotations, statistics, timelines, names, locations, and references appearing in AI-generated news content.
- Review AI-generated summaries, headlines, news briefs, background explainers, and analytical reports for factual consistency and editorial quality.
- Identify misinformation,



unsupported claims, fabricated citations, outdated information, biased language, contextual inaccuracies, and hallucinations.
- Monitor emerging news trends, major events, and developments across multiple industries and geographic regions.
- Provide structured feedback to improve AI performance in news retrieval, fact-checking, summarization, and media analysis.
- Review peer-developed deliverables to maintain quality and consistency standards.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Political Science, Public Policy, English, International Relations, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in news research, journalism, editorial operations, media analysis, fact-checking, communications, or research.
- Researching and validating news using reliable and authoritative sources.
- Reviewing news articles for factual accuracy, completeness, and editorial integrity.
- Verifying statistics, quotations, references, timelines, and source credibility.
- Evaluating AI-generated news content and identifying factual inconsistencies.
- Excellent analytical thinking, critical reasoning, and research skills.




- Solid written English communication and report-writing abilities.
- High attention to detail and ability to make objective, evidence-based decisions.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, quick-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working with newspapers, digital media organizations, television networks, wire services, research firms, think tanks, fact-checking organizations, or public policy institutions.
- Familiarity with global news ecosystems, media monitoring tools, public records, government databases, and corporate disclosure platforms.
- Experience in investigative journalism, editorial research, competitive intelligence, or current affairs analysis.
- Experience evaluating AI-generated news articles, summaries, fact-checking datasets, or multimedia content.
- Knowledge of Generative AI, prompt engineering, RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback), AI benchmarking, or content evaluation workflows is an advantage.
- Experience working with multilingual news sources or international media is a plus.
