Role & responsibilities:
Product Development & Formulation Develop semi-synthetic, synthetic, and soluble MWFs for machining, grinding, cutting, forming, and stamping.
- Design formulations based on performance, water quality, application conditions, and customer requirements.
- Select and evaluate base oils, emulsifiers, corrosion inhibitors, EP/AW additives, biocides, and defoamers.
- Drive new product development, import substitution, and customer-specific solutions
- Optimize cooling, lubricity, emulsion stability, corrosion protection, foam control, and hard water stability.
Testing, Validation & Technical Evaluation Plan and execute lab evaluations (emulsion stability, corrosion, foam, pH, RA, hard water compatibility).
- Assess lubricity, antiwear behavior, microbial and storage stability.
- Correlate lab data with field performance and recommend improvements.
Product Improvement & Cost Optimization Enhance performance, consistency, and sump life of existing products.
- Execute cost reduction via raw material optimization without compromising quality. Benchmark competitor products and implement improvements.
Plant Trial, Scale-up & Commercialization Scale up formulations from lab to pilot and commercial batches.
- Coordinate with Production and QC for process parameters and consistency.
- Support first commercial batches and resolve plant-related issues.
Customer Support & Application Troubleshooting Support trials, troubleshoot issues (foam, corrosion,
instability, odor, staining).
- Recommend solutions based on application conditions and machining processes.
- Collaborate with Sales for approvals and customer interactions.
Technical Documentation & Compliance Prepare TDS, MSDS, SOPs, BOMs, and trial reports
- Maintain records of formulations, tests, and development history.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
- Team Leadership & Cross-functional Coordination Lead and mentor junior chemists and technicians.
- Plan and monitor R&D; projects with timelines and deliverables.
- Coordinate with Production, QC, Purchase, Sales, and Marketing.
- Ensure lab safety, discipline, and best practices.
