Role The Assistant Village
Director leads an SOS Children's Village and is responsible for its overall development. This includes ensuring quality childcare within the SOS family model, supporting coworkers, guiding SOS mothers, and making sure every child's individual needs and rights are respected. The role also covers policy implementation, planning, reporting, financial management, statutory compliance, and representing the organization to the outside world.
Responsibilities Lead the overall development of children in the village, building positive relationships with them and acting as their legal guardian
Support youth in gaining skills and education for self-reliance and employability
Manage the village's finances and administration, including budgeting, monitoring, compliance and legal representation
Guide and support SOS mothers, ensuring a secure, high-quality family care environment
Guide and support youth coworkers, ensuring youth programs offer strong learning and career development opportunities
Lead and support all village coworkers, including recruitment, orientation, performance reviews and professional development
Build partnerships with government departments, community members and like-minded organisations to support project goals and advocacy
Contribute to national planning, policy development and fundraising efforts, sharing learnings across SOS Children's Villages Requirements Master's degree in Social Work or Social Sciences (a Bachelor's degree in Education is an added advantage)
At least 10 years of practical experience in child or youth care, community development, human resource management, psychology or education, including senior leadership experience, preferably in the NGO or public sector
Strong communication skills in English and regional languages, including Marathi, Oriya and Telugu
Robust writing, presentation and people management skills
