The Indian Public School (TIPS), Coimbatore, is an international institution offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Cambridge (CAIE) curriculum frameworks. We are currently looking for a dynamic, knowledgeable and passionate IBDP Economics Teacher to join our team of educators to guide and mentor students through the rigorous demands of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

Responsibilities (include but not limited to): Plan and deliver high-quality Economics lessons for IBDP students in accordance with the IBO subject guide. Use inquiry-based, discussion-oriented and concept-driven teaching methodologies aligned with IB pedagogy. Develop detailed lesson plans, unit plans and annual academic planners aligned with curriculum objectives and assessment criteria.

Prepare students effectively for all components of the IBDP Economics assessment including Internal Assessments (IAs), External Examinations (Papers 1, 2 and 3) and Extended Essay supervision if assigned. Demonstrate robust subject expertise in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Global Economics with the ability to connect theoretical knowledge to current economic developments. Integrate contemporary economic issues, global market trends, financial systems, public policy discussions and case studies into classroom teaching.

Guide students in data interpretation, economic analysis, essay writing, evaluation techniques and evidence-based argument construction. Support and supervise students in the completion of Internal Assessments (IA) ensuring academic integrity, research quality and compliance with IB assessment standards. Encourage students to develop analytical thinking, independent inquiry and research skills relevant to economics and social sciences.

Facilitate classroom discussions, debates, presentations and collaborative learning experiences to strengthen conceptual understanding.



Use differentiated instructional strategies to address varying learning needs and abilities of students. Regularly assess and monitor student academic progress using formative and summative assessment strategies.

Provide timely, constructive and actionable feedback to students for continuous improvement and academic achievement. Maintain accurate and comprehensive student records for internal reporting, moderation and IB documentation requirements. Design engaging learning experiences using IB Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL skills).

Maintain updated documentation related to lesson plans, assessments, rubrics, grade records and student progress reports. Collaborate closely with the IBDP Coordinator for curriculum planning, academic review, moderation and standardization processes. Participate in interdisciplinary planning and support cross-curricular learning opportunities wherever applicable.

Serve as a class teacher or mentor, supporting the academic, emotional and behavioral development of assigned students. Promote the IB Learner Profile attributes and international-mindedness through classroom culture and student interactions. Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior and academic support strategies.

Work collaboratively with colleagues, programme coordinators and school leadership teams to achieve institutional academic goals. Participate actively in departmental meetings, curriculum review sessions, planning meetings and school-wide initiatives. Engage in continuous professional development programmes and stay updated with changes in IBO curriculum requirements and assessment practices.

Participate in school events,



open houses, academic exhibitions, university guidance activities and student-led conferences. Support CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) initiatives, entrepreneurship activities and interdisciplinary projects wherever applicable. Contribute actively towards strengthening the academic culture, student achievement standards and overall institutional growth of the school.

Essential Skills

Excellent subject knowledge in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Global Economics. Strong understanding of economic theories, market structures, international trade, development economics and real-world economic applications. Exceptional communication skills – both spoken and written English.

Ability to simplify complex economic concepts using practical examples, case studies and current global economic trends. Proficiency in using technology for blended and online learning environments. Strong analytical, research and organizational skills with attention to detail.

Ability to cultivate critical thinking, inquiry, discussion and data interpretation skills among students. Commitment to the IB philosophy and international-mindedness. Capability to mentor students for research-based academic tasks and independent learning.

Ability to create engaging classroom discussions connected to contemporary economic issues and global affairs.

Qualifications &

Experience Master’s degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Business Economics or a related field from a recognized university. B. Ed. (or) equivalent teaching qualification (preferred but not mandatory for strong IB profiles).

Experience teaching Economics to higher secondary students is essential. Minimum 2–5 years of experience in teaching IBDP Economics (or) Cambridge AS/A Level Economics (or) ISC/CBSE Higher Secondary Economics.

Experience in handling international curriculum frameworks and inquiry-based learning methodologies will be an added advantage. IB-certified training (Category 1/2/3) will be a strong advantage.
