Position Summary The Plant Head will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operational performance of the manufacturing facilities of Vidya Wires Limited and ALCU Industries Limited. The role encompasses end-to-end responsibility for production, quality, maintenance, supply chain coordination, cost optimization, safety, compliance, people management, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure achievement of business objectives. The incumbent shall drive operational excellence by maximizing productivity, ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining statutory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities 1.
Strategic
Leadership & Business Planning Develop and implement plant strategies aligned with the organization's business objectives. Prepare annual operating plans, budgets, capacity plans, and production forecasts. Drive business growth through process optimization, productivity enhancement, and cost reduction initiatives.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to achieve operational targets. Support expansion projects, new product development, and technology upgradation initiatives.
- Production & Operations Management Oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations across all units. Ensure adherence to production schedules and customer delivery commitments. Optimize machine utilization, manpower productivity, and resource allocation. Minimize downtime, rejection, rework, and process losses. Ensure effective implementation of production planning and control systems. Coordinate with the sales, procurement, stores, and logistics teams for seamless operations. 3.
Quality Management
Ensure compliance with customer specifications, internal quality standards, and applicable industry requirements. Drive quality improvement initiatives to reduce defects and customer complaints.
Monitor process capability and implement corrective and preventive actions. Lead internal and external quality audits. Ensure compliance with applicable quality management systems such as International Organization for Standardization standards and customer-specific requirements.
- Maintenance & Engineering Ensure preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all plant equipment and utilities. Improve equipment reliability, availability, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Lead capital expenditure projects, plant modifications, and equipment installations. Ensure uninterrupted availability of utilities including power, compressed air, water, and other critical services. Drive energy conservation and asset lifecycle management initiatives. 5.
Supply
Chain & Inventory Management Coordinate with procurement and stores teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and consumables. Optimize inventory levels and reduce carrying costs. Monitor material consumption, yield, and wastage. Ensure effective warehouse management and dispatch planning.
- Cost Management & Profitability Prepare and manage plant operating budgets. Monitor manufacturing costs and implement cost-control measures. Identify opportunities for waste elimination and process improvement. Improve overall plant profitability through operational efficiencies. Drive value engineering and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Ensure strict compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations. Promote a zero-accident culture across all manufacturing facilities. Conduct regular safety audits,
risk assessments, and emergency preparedness drills. Ensure compliance with applicable environmental norms and pollution control requirements. Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Statutory & Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws, factory regulations, and statutory requirements. Liaise with government authorities, auditors, customers, and certification agencies. Ensure compliance under the provisions of the applicable laws including: o Factories Act and applicable state factory rules o Setting, Health and Safety regulations o Industrial relations and labour laws o Fire and electrical safety requirements o Legal metrology and other industry-specific regulations 9.
People
Management & Industrial Relations Lead, mentor, and develop departmental heads and plant employees. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning. Drive employee engagement, performance management, and succession planning initiatives. Maintain healthy industrial relations and proactively address employee grievances. Coordinate with the HR department for manpower planning, training, and workforce development. 10.
Continuous Improvement
Drive implementation of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, Kaizen, and 5S initiatives. Lead digital transformation and automation projects. Benchmark plant performance against industry standards. Encourage innovation and continuous improvement across functions.
