About the role
Own the credit and receivables position for a customer base of over 3,000 accounts across a 50-branch national network. Every other role in this department recovers money that has already gone overdue. This one prevents it.
You will set credit policy, hold the line on exposure with our own branch and sales teams, and carry the DSO number to the Director. The department is being restructured and this role leads it.
This is B2B credit control in logistics not consumer lending, NBFC or loan recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Own credit limits, payment terms and credit policy across the customer base
- Approve new customer onboarding — documentation, trade references, risk categorisation
- Take booking release and hold decisions against exposure and overdue position
- Manage PDCs, bank guarantees and EMD tracking
- Chair a monthly credit review with branch managers and follow through on actions
- Monitor ageing and exposure daily; act on high-risk accounts before they age further
- Make payment advice a condition of remittance and enforce it across branches
- Own the legal escalation path — notices, Section 138 matters, recovery proceedings
- Report ageing, DSO, exposure and bad-debt provision to the Director
- Lead, review and develop the receivables team
Key Performance Indicators
- Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) reduction
- Bad debt as a percentage of turnover
- Reduction in the 180+ day outstanding bucket
- Credit approval turnaround, target within 4 working hours
- Percentage of customers operating within sanctioned limit
- Monthly collection achievement against target
What We Are Looking For
- Graduate in commerce; MBA Finance, CA Inter or CMA an advantage
- 5–10 years in credit control, credit risk or receivables management in a B2B business
- You have set and enforced credit limits, and have told a sales team no
- Able to read a customer's financial statements and a credit report and form a view
- Experience managing a team
- Advanced MS Excel — pivot tables, VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP; Power Query an advantage
- Tally Prime; any logistics or transport ERP
- Qualified written English for customer and legal correspondence
- Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT for drafting, analysis and reporting — we encourage their sensible use
Candidates from logistics, transport, freight forwarding or multi-branch distribution backgrounds strongly preferred. Credit insurance experience and familiarity with MSME payment rules and Section 138 proceedings are an advantage.
What We Offer
