New Era Cleantech is leading the development of a landmark coal-to-chemicals project focused on decarbonization, energy transition, and industrial sustainability. This billion greenfield venture is among India's most complex and strategically significant projects involving multiple government stakeholders, international vendors, and high-value contracts.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Counsel who can navigate complex legal frameworks, manage multi-party agreements, and safeguard the company's interests across domestic and international transactions. This role demands strong contract negotiation skills, legal acumen across jurisdictions, and a robust understanding of regulatory frameworks applicable to large-scale industrial projects.

Role Details

- Reports to General Manager Operations

- Experience: 12 18 years in legal roles handling contracts, compliance, and corporate law

- Industry Preference: Energy, Infrastructure, Chemicals, Projects, or Industrial Sectors

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the entire legal function of the company, covering corporate, contractual, regulatory, and compliance areas.

- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements with Indian and international vendors, consultants, technology licensors, EPC contractors, and government entities.

- Maintain a centralized repository of all legal documents, contracts, MoUs, NDAs, and board resolutions, ensuring timely renewals and compliance tracking.

- Support structuring of joint ventures, SPVs, inter-corporate agreements, land leases, and investment documentation.

- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, environmental regulations, industrial norms, and government approvals.





- Liaise with external legal counsel as needed for specialized matters, litigation, or regulatory filings.

- Support the Managing Director and Board with legal advice on strategic transactions, risks, and dispute resolution.

- Provide legal inputs in investor discussions, financial documentation, and due diligence processes.

- Ensure proactive risk identification, mitigation planning, and legal support for business-critical decisions.

Key Qualifications

- LL.B. (mandatory); LL.M. or CS is an added advantage.

- 12 18 years of legal experience, preferably in infrastructure, energy, chemicals, or project-based industries.

- Strong experience with domestic and cross-border contracts, vendor agreements, IP licensing, and project finance documentation.

- Familiarity with Indian corporate, commercial, labor, and environmental laws.

- Ability to work independently, manage multiple legal workflows, and represent the company's interests in negotiations.

- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and qualified communication skills.
