Position Summary:-

The Accounts Head will lead the entire accounting, statutory compliance, taxation and financial reporting function of the organisation. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate books of accounts, ensuring timely closure of monthly, quarterly and annual financials, driving statutory and internal audits, managing direct and indirect taxation, and strengthening internal financial controls. The incumbent will partner closely with the business teams to provide financial insights that support decision-making, and will lead and mentor the accounts team.

Job Requirements

Accounting & Financial Reporting

- Own the end-to-end accounting function and ensure books are maintained in accordance with Ind AS / applicable accounting standards and the Companies Act, 2013.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual book closure, including preparation of P&L;, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.
- Prepare and present MIS reports, variance analysis and management dashboards to the Board members and leadership team.
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory accounting and bank reconciliations.

Statutory Audit & Compliance

- Lead the statutory, internal, tax and transfer pricing audits, and act as the single point of contact for auditors.
- Ensure compliance with the Companies Act, Income Tax Act, GST law and other applicable statutes, including ROC filings and board-related financial disclosures.
- Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls (IFC) and standard operating procedures across the finance function.

Taxation

- Manage direct taxation- advance tax, TDS/TCS computation, deposit, return filing, Form 16/16A issuance, and income tax assessments and appeals.
- Manage indirect taxation- GST computation, GSTR-1/3B/9/9C filings, input tax credit reconciliation, e-invoicing, e-way bills and departmental assessments.
- Handle notices, scrutiny and litigation matters in coordination with external consultants.

Treasury, Budgeting & Controls

- Manage cash flow,



working capital, banking relationships and fund planning.
- Annual budgeting, forecasting and business planning; monitor budget vs. actual performance.
- Review and approve vendor payments, royalty and author payouts, employee reimbursements and payroll accounting entries.
- Evaluate and control costs, and identify opportunities for process efficiency and automation.

Team & Stakeholder Management

- Lead, mentor and develop the accounts team; allocate responsibilities and monitor performance.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams Sales, Publishing, Digital, Supply Chain and HR for financial data and process alignment.
- Liaise with auditors, bankers, tax consultants and regulatory authorities.
- Drive implementation and optimisation of ERP / accounting systems and finance automation initiatives.

Qualifications

- Chartered Accountant (CA)- Preferred
- Additional qualifications such as an MBA (Finance), CS, or CMA will be an added advantage.

Required Skills

- Robust command of Ind AS, Companies Act 2013, Income Tax Act and GST law.
- Proven expertise in finalisation of accounts and independent handling of statutory and tax audits.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / Microsoft Dynamics / Tally Prime) and advanced MS Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and business partnering skills.
- Ability to build, lead and mentor a team, with strong ownership and accountability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail and ability to work under tight timelines.
- Exposure to the publishing, media, entertainment, FMCG or consumer products industry will be preferred.

Experience Required

- Minimum 12 years of total post-qualification experience in Accounts, Finance and Taxation.
- Of which, at least 3-4 years must be in an independent leadership capacity as Accounts Head / Finance Head / Head Finance & Accounts.
