Profile building and maintenance Create and maintain ICC output profiles for dye-sublimation and UV print processes across all production substrates
Run the full workflow: media setup, linearisation, ink limiting (per-channel and total ink limit), ink restriction, black generation (GCR/UCR) strategy, profile build, and iterative refinement
Build multi-channel / extended-gamut profiles where our configurations use light and additional inks beyond CMYK
Create device-link profiles and set rendering-intent policy for different job types
Maintain a versioned profile library with clear naming, change logs and rollback capability RIP workflow ownership
Configure and manage colour workflows in EFI Fiery, Wasatch SoftRIP, and ONYX — media presets, calibration curves, spot colour tables, output profiles
Standardise settings across RIPs so the same artwork produces matched output regardless of which queue it runs through
Build and maintain spot-colour / brand-colour libraries and named-colour replacement tables Measurement, verification and control
Own spectrophotometer operation and maintenance (X-Rite i1Pro / eXact / i1iSis, Barbieri, Konica Minolta or equivalent)
Define and enforce verification tolerances using ΔE (CIEDE2000) against agreed targets; set pass/fail gates for production
Build a repeatable QC routine: control strips, daily/weekly calibration checks, drift monitoring and trend reporting
Diagnose and correct colour drift — distinguish RIP/profile causes from press, ink, media, environmental and post-process causes Process integration (critical for sublimation)
Characterise how heat-press variables (temperature, dwell time, pressure) shift final colour, and lock in validated press recipes per substrate
Account for substrate coating variation, ambient temperature and humidity in profile validity
Work with QC and vendors on incoming ink and blank/coated-substrate consistency Standards, documentation and training
Document every profile and workflow as an SOP a trained operator can follow without you present
Train press operators and prepress staff on calibration routines and when to escalate
Set up monitor calibration and soft-proofing at prepress and design workstations so on-screen approvals are trustworthy
Support new substrate, ink or machine introductions with characterisation and profiling from day one What we're looking for Must have
4+ years doing colour management in a production print environment (wide-format, textile, industrial or packaging)
Demonstrated experience building ICC profiles from scratch — not only loading supplied profiles
Hands-on RIP experience with at least two of Fiery, Wasatch, ONYX; willingness and ability to get to depth on all three
Working knowledge of dye-sublimation and UV curing processes and their different colour behaviour
Fluent with spectrophotometers and profiling software (Fiery Color Profiler Suite, i1Profiler, CoPrA, Chromix ColorThink or similar)
Solid grasp of colour science fundamentals: Lab/LCh, gamut mapping, rendering intents, metamerism, illuminant effects, ΔE metrics
Structured, data-driven troubleshooting habits and a tolerance for methodical iteration Good to have
G7 Expert / Qualified certification, Idealliance Colour Management Professional (CMP), or EFI Fiery certification
Familiarity with ISO 12647 and Fogra characterisation data
Experience with printer-to-printer fleet matching across multiple machines
Textile or hard-goods sublimation experience (poly-coated rigid substrates, garments, metal, acrylic, ceramic)
Comfort with scripting or spreadsheet automation for measurement data analysis
Experience introducing third-party inks on OEM hardware and re-profiling accordingly
