Position: HOD – Rubber Mixing / Compounding Department

Location: Umargaon, Gujarat

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the Rubber Mixing & Compounding Department, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
- Develop, optimize, and approve rubber compound formulations based on product requirements and customer specifications.
- Drive formulation development for synthetic rubber compounds, ensuring consistent quality, performance, and manufacturability.
- Oversee laboratory trials, validation, and production scale-up of new and modified rubber compounds.
- Monitor and optimize compound quality, process parameters, raw material utilization, and batch consistency.
- Evaluate and qualify new or alternative raw materials to improve quality, reduce cost, and ensure supply continuity.
- Provide technical leadership in resolving formulation, mixing, and processing-related issues on the shop floor.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Tooling, R&D;, Purchase, and Sales teams to support current product development and customer requirements.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, customer specifications, and statutory requirements.
- Maintain formulation records, SOPs, technical documentation, development reports, and process standards.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, cost reduction, waste minimization, and process optimization.
- Develop, mentor, and evaluate the performance of engineers, chemists, supervisors, and operators within the department.
- Plan departmental manpower, training, and resource allocation to achieve operational excellence.
- Skills
- Strong expertise in synthetic rubber compounding and formulation development (NBR, EPDM, CR, SBR, Silicone, FKM, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of rubber polymers, chemicals, fillers, curing systems, processing aids,



and mixing processes.
- Strong understanding of Banbury/Internal Mixers, Two-Roll Mills, Kneaders, and related compounding equipment.
- Good knowledge of ASTM, ISO, and other rubber testing standards.
- Hands-on experience with rheometers, MDR, Mooney Viscometer, tensile testing, hardness testing, and laboratory equipment.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, leadership, decision-making, and team management skills.
- Strong documentation, planning, communication, and cross-functional coordination abilities.

Qualification - Diploma/Degree in Polymer Engineering, Rubber Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience - 8–15 years of relevant experience in rubber compounding and formulation development, including 3–5 years in a leadership or departmental management role, with a strong focus on synthetic rubber compounds.Preferred

- Experience in manufacturing industrial rubber products such as seals, gaskets, diaphragms, extrusions, molded rubber components, and rubber-to-metal bonded products.
- Exposure to customer-specific compound development, validation, production scale-up, and process optimization.
- Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices.
- Experience in managing compound development for export-oriented or OEM customers.
- Note Candidates must have extensive hands-on experience in synthetic rubber formulation and compounding, along with proven leadership experience in managing a Rubber Mixing & Compounding Department. Preference will be given to candidates from the rubber manufacturing industry with expertise in industrial rubber products.

Pay: ₹65,000.00 - ₹75,000.00 per month
