Job Description – Plant Head (Cosmetic Manufacturing)

Position: Plant Head

Location: Mohali

Department: Operations / Manufacturing

Reporting To: Director / Managing Director

Role Overview:

The Plant Head will be responsible for overseeing the entire operations of the cosmetic manufacturing plant. This includes production planning, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, supply chain coordination, workforce management, and continuous improvement to achieve business goals in terms of productivity, efficiency, quality, and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production & Operations Management

- Lead and manage end-to-end plant operations, ensuring smooth production of cosmetic products (skincare, hair care, personal care, etc.).
- Prepare and monitor production schedules to meet market demand and dispatch deadlines.
- Optimize machine utilization, manpower allocation, and production efficiency.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and cost reduction initiatives.

2. Quality & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, FDA, BIS, and other cosmetic regulatory standards.
- Monitor quality assurance processes to deliver defect-free products.
- Drive continuous improvements in product safety, quality, and consistency.

3. Supply Chain & Inventory Management

- Coordinate with procurement, warehousing, and logistics teams for raw material and packaging availability.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts and overstock situations.
- Optimize supply chain efficiency to minimize lead times and costs.

4. People Management

- Lead, motivate, and develop plant staff across production, QC, engineering, and support functions.
- Ensure training, skill development, and a safe working workplace.
- Foster a culture of accountability,



teamwork, and innovation.

5. Cost & Budget Control

- Prepare and control the plant’s operating budget.
- Monitor operational costs and implement cost-saving strategies.
- Ensure energy efficiency and resource optimization.

6. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and statutory compliance.
- Drive sustainability initiatives in waste management, water, and energy usage.

7. Strategic & Reporting

- Develop long-term operational strategies aligned with business goals.
- Provide regular reports to management on production, quality, cost, and manpower.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and technological upgrades.

Qualifications & Skills:

- Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, Pharmacy, or related field.
- 12–18+ years of experience in manufacturing (preferably cosmetic, FMCG, or pharmaceutical), with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO, and cosmetic industry regulations.
- Proven track record in production management, quality control, and cost optimization.
- Leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹75,000.00 - ₹150,000.00 per month
