Job Description: A Casualty Duty Doctor (or Casualty Medical Officer) provides immediate medical care, stabilization, and triage to patients with acute injuries or illnesses in the emergency department. Key responsibilities include rapid diagnosis, initiating treatment, coordinating with specialists, and maintaining accurate records to facilitate patient stabilization and potential admission. Key Responsibilities
- Immediate Care & Triage: Assess, triage, and stabilize patients presenting to the emergency department, ensuring prompt treatment for trauma or acute illnesses.
- Diagnostics & Treatment: Perform diagnostic procedures, order lab tests, interpret imaging, and initiate appropriate treatment protocols.
- Emergency Management: Respond to "code blue" situations and provide advanced life support (ACLS) or basic life support (BLS).
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate patient records for all emergency visits and, when needed, for admission.
- Coordination:
Collaborate with emergency nurses, specialists, and surgical teams to transfer patients to specialized units or operating rooms.
- Communication: Advise patients and their families regarding medical conditions and treatment plans. Qualifications and Skills
- Qualification: MBBS degree from a recognized institution and valid registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or National Medical Commission (NMC).
- Experience: Previous experience in emergency medicine or intensive care is often preferred.
- Certification: ACLS and BLS certifications are typically required.
- Skills: Robust diagnostic skills, capability to work under pressure, rapid decision-making, and excellent communication.
