Job Description: An Accounts Head for a rolling mill manages all plant-level financial operations, statutory compliances, and cost reporting. They are primarily responsible for monitoring conversion costs, material yields, and variances, as well as overseeing GST filing, internal audits, and general ledger reconciliation. [1] Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Reporting & Cost Control

- Monthly Closures: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L;, Cash Flow) with a high degree of accuracy.
- Manufacturing Analytics: Track critical plant metrics like conversion costs, raw material yields, and daily production margins.
- Variance Analysis: Monitor budgets versus actual expenses, coordinating with HODs to identify deviations and implement corrective actions.
- Inventory Reconciliation: Conduct physical stock verification (Raw Materials, WIP, Finished Goods) and reconcile them with the mill's ERP/SAP systems. [1, 2, 3]

2. Statutory & Taxation Compliance

- GST Management: Drive GST compliance, including filing GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and handling plant-level tax assessments.
- Audits: Coordinate statutory, internal, and taxation audits and manage responses to government assessments or notices.
- Routine Payments:



Oversee direct/indirect tax deductions (TDS, TCS) and process plant-level vendor and contractor payments. [1, 2, 3, 4]

3. Day-to-Day Operations & Team Leadership

- Ledger Management: Supervise day-to-day accounts payable, accounts receivable, and customer/vendor reconciliations.
- Team Supervision: Lead, train, and mentor accounting staff at the rolling mill to ensure flawless daily transaction entries.
- Vendor & Supply Chain: Validate weighbridge data against procurement invoices and review supply chain costs. [1, 2, 3]

Qualifications & Skills

- Education: CA, ICWA, or MBA (Finance) with significant steel industry experience.
- Experience: Typically 10 to 20 years in heavy manufacturing, specifically with rolling mills, induction furnaces, or steel plants.
- Technical Skills: Solid proficiency in ERP systems (SAP FICO, Oracle, or Tally Prime) and advanced MS Excel.
