Job Description: A Shift Fitter in a Ferro Alloys Steel Plant (Submerged Arc Furnace) is responsible for the maintenance, installation, and repair of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems during a shift, ensuring high equipment availability and safety. - Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance: Perform daily checks, troubleshooting, and repairing of mechanical equipment such as submerged arc furnaces, charging systems, raw material handling systems, and cranes.
- Operational Support: Monitor equipment performance during the shift to reduce downtime and ensure continuous operation.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to industrial safety standards, including hot work permits and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose faults in hydraulic, pneumatic, and cooling systems.




- Documentation: Record maintenance activities, breakdown reports, and inventory consumption.
- Fabrication & Assembly: Perform cutting, grinding, and welding (MIG, TIG, Arc) as needed to maintain machinery structural integrity. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Key Requirements

- Education: ITI in Fitter Trade or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Previous experience in Ferro Alloy plants (Submerged Arc Furnace) is often required.
- Skills: Solid understanding of hydraulic systems, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and ability to read blueprints.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in high-temperature and heavy-industrial environments.
