Job Description: A Head of Quality for a Rolling Mill (SMS Rolling Mill) is responsible for ensuring the final steel products meet specified quality standards by overseeing all quality-related activities in the rolling mill and its connected Steel Melting Shop (SMS). Key duties include implementing quality control processes, managing the quality team, ensuring compliance with standards, driving continuous improvement, and cross-functional coordination. Core responsibilities

- Quality management: Develop and implement quality control procedures for raw materials, intermediate products, and finished steel (e.g., billets, rebar, TMT bars).
- Process monitoring: Oversee and monitor all aspects of the rolling process and upstream SMS operations, including casting parameters, temperatures, and equipment performance.
- Team leadership: Manage, train, and evaluate the quality control team, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient shift operations.
- Quality analysis and improvement: Lead defect analysis, root cause investigation, and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and reduce waste.
- Compliance:



Ensure all operations comply with internal SOPs, national and international standards (like ISO 9001), and safety regulations.
- Cross-functional coordination: Collaborate with other departments, including operations, maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and production planning, to ensure seamless production flow and quality.
- Cost and efficiency: Drive initiatives to optimize yield, reduce costs, and improve overall plant efficiency and productivity.

Essential skills and experience
- Extensive hands-on experience in rolling mill and SMS operations.
- Solid understanding of steelmaking processes and quality standards.
- Experience with quality management systems like ISO 9001.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities.
- Proficiency in analyzing production data and implementing improvements.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
