Job Description: A Welder (Ferro-Alloys) in a steel plant or ferro-alloy unit specializes in joining, cutting, and repairing machinery, heavy steel structures, and furnace components using SMAW, MIG, or TIG techniques. They perform crucial maintenance on submerged arc furnaces (SAF) and fabrication work, ensuring high-strength, durable welds. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] Key Responsibilities & Duties

- Welding Techniques: Perform high-quality welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, and alloys using SMAW (Stick), MIG, and TIG techniques.
- Plant Maintenance: Repair and maintain critical plant equipment, including submerged arc furnaces, crushing plants, and heavy machinery, as mentioned in.
- Fabrication: Fabricate heavy steel structural components, chutes, conveyors, and pipework.
- Material Preparation: Prepare, cut, and grind metal components for welding, using plasma cutters and oxy-fuel equipment.
- Hardfacing/Cladding: Perform hardfacing on crusher parts and liners to increase wear resistance against abrasive materials.




- Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications.

Requirements

- Certification: ITI Welder certificate or equivalent professional training.
- Experience: Previous experience in a heavy industry, steel plant, or ferro-alloy manufacturing unit is generally required.
- Skills: Proficiency in MIG (GMAW) and Arc (SMAW) welding, along with robust knowledge of metal properties.
