Job Summary

A store manager's responsibilities include:

- Managing inventory: Ensuring products are stocked, planning purchases, and maintaining inventory levels

- Managing staff: Recruiting, hiring, training, and disciplining staff

- Managing operations: Overseeing the sales floor, developing opening and closing routines, and ensuring the store runs efficiently

- Managing finances: Meeting sales and financial targets, managing the budget, and generating payroll

- Managing customer service: Ensuring customer service needs are met and setting criteria for staff

- Managing security: Establishing security and safety measures, and creating emergency and lock-down strategies

- Managing loss prevention: Auditing paperwork and inventory levels, and handling broken or damaged merchandise

- Managing promotions:



Developing holiday promotions and other in-store and outside-store promotions

- Managing maintenance: Ensuring the store is clean and presentable

- Managing compliance: Adhering to health and safety protocols and policies

Store managers are also responsible for making timely decisions, even when information is incomplete, and for considering multiple options before committing to a course of action.

Store managers typically report to an area manager if their store is part of a chain.

Developing store strategies to raise customers' pool, expand store traffic and optimize profitability.

Meeting sales goals by training, engaging, mentoring and providing feedback to store staff. Ensuring high levels of customers satisfaction through excellent service.
