Job Summary The Senior Product Designer is responsible for designing cutting-edge, functional, and market-driven sofa and modular furniture products. The role involves concept development, 3D modeling, technical drawings, prototype development, material selection, and coordination with production, procurement, and sales teams to deliver high-quality furniture products.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Design & Development

- Design modern sofas, recliners, sectionals, modular wardrobes, TV units, kitchen modules, storage units, and custom furniture.
- Develop new product concepts based on market trends and customer requirements.
- Create aesthetically appealing and ergonomic furniture designs.
- Improve existing products for functionality, cost, and manufacturability.

Technical Design

- Prepare detailed production drawings with dimensions and specifications.
- Develop 2D and 3D models using CAD software.
- Prepare BOM (Bill of Materials) and product specifications.
- Ensure designs comply with manufacturing standards and quality requirements.

Prototype Development

- Coordinate prototype manufacturing with the production team.
- Evaluate prototypes and recommend design improvements.
- Conduct product testing for durability, comfort, and functionality.

Material & Hardware Selection

- Select suitable wood, plywood, MDF, particle board, veneers, laminates, fabrics, leather, foam,



and hardware.
- Work closely with procurement to source new materials and components.
- Optimize material utilization to reduce production costs.

Cross-Functional Coordination

- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Procurement, Sales, and Marketing teams.
- Provide technical support during production and installation.
- Assist the sales team with product presentations and custom design solutions.

Quality & Cost Optimization

- Improve product quality while maintaining target costs.
- Standardize components for efficient manufacturing.
- Resolve design-related production issues.

Market Research

- Monitor furniture market trends and competitor products.
- Research new materials, finishes, and manufacturing techniques.
- Recommend cutting-edge product ideas to expand the product portfolio.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Furniture Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in CAD/3D Design software is an added advantage.

Experience

- 10 years of experience in sofa, modular furniture, or furniture manufacturing.
- Experience in product development from concept to production.
- Hands-on experience with factory-based furniture manufacturing processes.

Required Skills





- Strong knowledge of sofa construction and modular furniture systems.
- Expertise in furniture ergonomics and space planning.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, Rhino, 3ds Max, or Solid Edge.
- Knowledge of CNC manufacturing and production processes.
- Strong understanding of upholstery, foam density, fabrics, leather, wood, laminates, veneers, and furniture hardware.
- Ability to prepare production drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving, creativity, and attention to detail.
- Solid communication and project coordination skills.

Preferred Knowledge

- Sofa frame construction and upholstery techniques.
- Modular kitchen, wardrobe, TV unit, and storage furniture design.
- CNC machining and nesting optimization.
- Furniture costing and value engineering.
- Product lifecycle management (PLM).
- Lean manufacturing and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
