About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced legal professional to strengthen Scapia's legal function across commercial legal advisory, regulatory matters, legal risk management, and dispute resolution. While prior litigation experience is preferred and will be valuable in handling disputes and regulatory matters, the role has a broader mandate of partnering with business teams to enable growth while managing legal risk.

The ideal candidate combines sound legal judgment with a practical business mindset and is comfortable working with cross-functional teams, external counsel, regulators, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Legal Advisory

- Provide practical legal advice to business teams on commercial, regulatory, and operational matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, partnerships, vendor contracts, customer-facing terms, and strategic initiatives.
- Identify legal risks and recommend pragmatic mitigation measures.
- Support legal aspects of new products, business initiatives, and partnerships.

Regulatory & Compliance Support

- Draft and review responses to notices, summons, complaints, and communications from regulatory authorities, statutory bodies, and law enforcement agencies.
- Liaise with regulators, government authorities, and external agencies as required.
- Support investigations, regulatory information requests, and compliance-related matters.

Dispute Resolution & Litigation (Preferred Experience)

- Support and manage litigation matters across consumer, civil, commercial, and other legal forums, where applicable.




- Coordinate with external counsel on ongoing disputes and legal proceedings.
- Draft and review legal notices, replies, complaints, affidavits, petitions, and other dispute-related documents.
- Track litigation matters and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders.
- Assist in developing litigation strategy in consultation with internal teams and external counsel.

Legal Research & Governance

- Conduct legal research on evolving laws, regulations, and judicial developments.
- Prepare legal opinions, internal guidance notes, and risk assessments.
- Maintain legal trackers, dispute MIS, and legal documentation.
- Monitor legal exposures and support governance initiatives across the organisation.

Experience & Qualifications

- LL.B. from a reputed institution.
- 7–9 years of post-qualification experience in corporate legal, commercial legal, or legal advisory roles.
- Experience handling commercial contracts, regulatory matters, and business advisory.
- Exposure to litigation and dispute resolution is preferred.
- Experience in fintech, banking, payments, technology, e-commerce, consumer internet, or other regulated industries is preferred.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Finance. The role will serve as the primary legal partner to the organisation, supporting commercial legal advisory, regulatory matters, legal governance, and legal risk management, while overseeing litigation and disputes as required.
