A 2nd Class Boiler Operator in a power plant operates, monitors, and maintains high-pressure steam boilers and auxiliary equipment (turbines, fans, water treatment) to ensure protected, efficient steam production. Key duties include checking fuel systems, maintaining water levels/pressure, and adhering to IBR regulations, often working under 1st Class Operators. [1, 2, 3, 4] Key Responsibilities and Duties:

- Operational Monitoring: Monitor steam boilers, turbines, and auxiliaries via DCS or manual gauges, checking fuel systems (coal, oil, gas, biomass) and maintaining optimal boiler pressure, temperature, and water levels.
- Safety and Inspection: Perform routine safety checks on safety valves, fans, and pumps; respond to alarms, and perform startup/shutdown procedures.
- Maintenance & Efficiency: Maintain boiler bed conditions, clean ash, remove clinker,



and ensure proper function of Bag Filters and ESP systems.
- Documentation: Record log readings, fuel consumption, and maintenance data. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Required Qualifications and Skills:

- Certification: Valid 2nd Class Boiler Operator Certification/License is mandatory.
- Experience: Usually 2 to 7 years of experience in thermal power plants (e.g., AFBC, CFBC, or WHRB boilers).
