Role & responsibilities

We are seeking a highly experienced API Automation Engineer to lead and deliver automation solutions for API testing. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in building API test automation frameworks and possess deep knowledge of RESTful web services, testing tools, and CI/CD integration

Preferred candidate profile

Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain robust API automation test frameworks using tools like Rest Assured, Postman, or Karate DSL.
• Write and manage test cases for REST/SOAP APIs, validating endpoints, request/response structures, status codes, and performance metrics.
• Build scalable test suites to support regression and continuous testing cycles.
• Develop reusable libraries, utilities, and tools to streamline testing activities.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and DevOps teams to understand technical and business requirements.
• Integrate API tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab,



Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
• Own defect management and reporting using JIRA, TestRail, Zephyr, etc.
• Mentor junior testers and guide the team in adopting best practices and tools for API automation.

Must-Have Skills:
• Solid hands-on experience in API automation using Rest Assured or similar Java-based libraries.
• Proficient in writing test scripts in Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Deep understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, JSON/XML structures, and authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, etc.).
• Experience working with Postman, SoapUI, or Karate for manual and automated API testing.
• Sound knowledge of test automation frameworks, version control systems (Git), and build tools (Maven/Gradle).
• Familiarity with BDD using Cucumber or Gherkin syntax.
