Summary: The Senior Azure APIM Engineer plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-grade APIs using Azure API Management (APIM).
This position is pivotal in driving API governance, ensuring secure and scalable API operations, and supporting seamless integration across cloud-native and legacy systems.
The ideal candidate will contribute to architectural decision-making, lead API migration initiatives from legacy platforms like MuleSoft, and ensure robust CI/CD practices, high availability, and compliance with enterprise standards.

Location: PAN INDIA Responsibilities: Design, develop, configure, and support scalable APIs using Azure API Management.
Implement and manage APIM policies for authentication, authorization, routing, transformation, rate limiting, logging, and error handling.
Lead API migration projects from MuleSoft to Azure APIM, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for automated API deployment and release management.
Conduct code, API configuration, and APIM policy reviews to ensure quality, security, and compliance.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams on API best practices and APIM capabilities.
Configure monitoring and alerting using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, or ELK stack for proactive issue detection.
Troubleshoot complex API, network, security, performance, and production incidents with rapid resolution.
Support SIT, UAT, and production deployments, including post-release validation and rollback procedures.
Author technical designs, deployment documentation, support runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
Participate in Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management processes as part of IT service operations.
Collaborate closely with architects, delivery leads, Scrum Masters, DevOps, security, infrastructure, and application teams.
Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance API reliability, performance, and developer experience.
Requirements 6+ years of overall IT experience, with at least 4 years of hands-on experience in Azure API Management and related Azure services.
Proven experience in enterprise API development,
integration, deployment, and production support.
Strong expertise in REST APIs, HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, XML, and OpenAPI specifications.
In-depth knowledge of APIM features including policies, products, subscriptions, backends, versions, and revisions.
Proficient in implementing security standards using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, API keys, certificates, and mutual TLS.
Experience with managed identities and Azure Key Vault for secure credential and secret management.
Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation.
Solid understanding of Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics for observability and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with Git and standard code-review practices.
Understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies and experience working in iterative delivery environments.
Java and Spring Boot development experience is considered an added advantage.
