About Chess Gaja

At Chess Gaja, we are dedicated to scaling chess education and performance tracking through technology. We are embarking on an exciting new phase: building a comprehensive, data-driven web platform inspired by modern tools. This platform will serve as a foundational hub for performance tracking, analytics, and user management.

We are looking for a motivated recent graduate to join our technical team as a Junior Full-Stack Developer. You will play a direct role in architecture, feature development, and bringing this new platform to life from scratch.

The Role & What You’ll Do

As a Junior Full-Stack Developer, you won't just be fixing bugs - you’ll be building core features for our new platform. Working closely with our technical lead, your responsibilities will include:

- Feature Construction: Developing clean, responsive front-end interfaces and robust back-end APIs for our new platform.
- Collaboration: Using Git and GitHub daily to manage codebases, participate in code reviews, and collaborate effectively with the team.
- Performance Optimization: Ensuring high-speed load times, smooth data fetching, and seamless cross-browser compatibility.
- Technical Translation: Communicating progress and technical choices clearly with both technical teammates and non-technical stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For

1. Technical Proficiency

- Solid Foundations: Strong fundamentals in modern HTML5, CSS3, and vanilla JavaScript (ES6+).
- Frameworks & Libraries: Practical academic or project experience with modern stacks.
- Front-End: React, Vue, or Angular.
- Back-End: Python (Django/FastAPI) or PHP (Laravel).
- Version Control: Non-negotiable proficiency with Git and workflows on GitHub/GitLab.

Note: Proficiency in WordPress is a plus.

2. Practical Experience

- A Public Portfolio: A GitHub profile showcasing clean, organized, and well-documented code.
- Live Projects: 2–3 completed projects (caps, hackathons, or personal projects) that you can visually walk us through, explaining your architectural choices.
- Problem Solving: The ability to take a feature concept, break it down logically, and implement it systematically.

3. Non-Technical & Mindset Traits

- A Builder’s Mindset: You love taking concepts from 0 to 1. You get genuine satisfaction from shipping real features, experimenting with new ideas, and building products people actually use.
- Curiosity & Adaptability: You aren't married to a single framework or tool. You are naturally curious, love exploring new tech and AI workflows, and are excited to dive hands-first into unfamiliar territory as our platform evolves.
- Business-Centric Engineering: An understanding that code doesn't live in a vacuum. You care about how site speed, clean UI, and SEO directly impact the end-user and Chess Gaja’s growth.
- Clear Communication: Ability to explain technical decisions, trade-offs, and progress in plain, straightforward language.

What We Offer

- Unfiltered Hands-On Experience: No getting stuck in a narrow silo or doing routine maintenance. You'll get direct, end-to-end exposure across multiple areas of the modern tech stack.
- Direct Impact:

The unique opportunity to build a core web application from scratch and shape its technical direction.
- Mentorship & Growth: Work directly with experienced team members who encourage experimentation, reward initiative, and invest in your development as an engineer.
