Job Summary

The Desktop Engineer is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT peripherals. The role ensures uninterrupted IT support for hospital operations by providing timely technical assistance to doctors, nursing staff, administrative departments, and other users while maintaining system security and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Support

- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, workstations, and peripherals.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware faults and coordinate repairs or replacements.
- Assemble, upgrade, and maintain computer systems.

Software Support

- Install, configure, and update operating systems and application software.
- Install antivirus software and ensure regular updates.
- Troubleshoot software-related issues and system performance problems.

User Support

- Provide first-level and second-level technical support to end users.
- Resolve issues related to desktops, printers, scanners, email, and network connectivity.
- Support users with Microsoft Office applications and other business software.
- Maintain service requests and ensure timely resolution.

Network & Connectivity

- Troubleshoot LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and internet connectivity issues.
- Configure IP addresses, printers, and shared network resources.
- Coordinate with the Network Engineer for complex networking issues.

Hospital Information System (HIMS) Support

- Assist users with login issues and workstation configuration for HIMS applications.




- Ensure desktops used for clinical and administrative functions remain operational.
- Coordinate with the HIMS team for application-related issues.

Asset Management

- Maintain inventory of IT assets, including desktops, laptops, printers, and accessories.
- Record hardware allocation, movement, maintenance, and disposal.
- Maintain warranty and AMC records.

Preventive Maintenance

- Perform periodic preventive maintenance of IT equipment.
- Monitor system health and recommend upgrades when required.
- Ensure regular backups where applicable.

Documentation

- Maintain installation records, asset registers, maintenance logs, and support tickets.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly IT support reports.
- Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for desktop support.

Information Security

- Ensure compliance with organizational IT security policies.
- Protect systems from malware and unauthorized access.
- Maintain confidentiality of hospital and patient information.

Qualification

- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Hardware & Networking certifications (A+, N+, CCNA, MCSA, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.

Experience

· 1–3 years of relevant experience as a Desktop Engineer, Desktop Support Engineer, IT Support Engineer, or System Support Engineer.

· Prior experience in a hospital, medical college, healthcare institution, or educational institution is preferred.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
