Position: Junior Engineer – New Product Development (NPD)

Industry: Japanese MNC – Wiring Harness Manufacturing

Location: Irulapalayam Rd, Poonamalle, Chennai 600124

Experience: 1 to 3 Years

Qualification: Diploma / BE – Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

About the Company:

A leading Japanese multinational automotive manufacturing company is looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Junior Engineer – New Product Development (NPD) to support new product development activities, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and ensure product quality from development to production.

Knowledge / Awareness:

- Knowledge of IATF 16949, Customer Specific Requirements (CSR), and quality management systems.
- Understanding of wiring harnesses, cables, connectors, terminals, and their applications.
- Knowledge of plastic, rubber, steel, copper, brass, and other engineering materials.
- Familiarity with testing methods, inspection techniques, and quality control processes.
- Knowledge of testing and inspection equipment.
- Basic understanding of Injection Moulding and Press Tool processes is an added advantage.
- Awareness of supplier selection and supplier development processes.

Basic Requirements:

- Hands-on knowledge of Wiring Harness, Press Components, and Injection Moulding.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with production,



quality, and suppliers during new product development.
- Support prototype development, validation, and product launch activities.
- Maintain NPD documentation and ensure compliance with customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support end-to-end New Product Development activities.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams for recent product implementation.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documents, BOMs, and technical records.
- Participate in product trials, validation, and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with suppliers for component development and approvals.
- Support problem-solving activities related to product and process quality.
- Assist in implementing engineering changes and continuous improvement initiatives.
