ROLE SUMMARY The Sales & Service Engineer for Electrosurgical Units (ESU) is a dual-role professional responsible for driving product Demonstration in OT and delivering post-sales technical support within the assigned territory. The incumbent will engage with surgeons, biomedical engineers, and hospital procurement teams to present and sell ESU products, while also ensuring optimal device performance through hands-on installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and repairs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES A. Sales & Business Development •Conduct clinical and technical product demonstrations of ESU devices to surgeons, OT nurses, and hospital administrators. •Develop and deliver compelling sales presentations tailored to customer needs and clinical workflows. •Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual product Demonstration targets for the ESU product range. •Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), surgeons, and hospital procurement teams. •Perform live in-theatre product demonstrations during surgical procedures in a professional and safe manner. •Educate OT staff and clinicians on the correct and protected usage of ESU equipment and accessories. •Set up and configure ESU devices and accessories (monopolar, bipolar, vessel sealing) as per clinical requirements. •Coordinate and conduct hands-on training sessions, workshops, and dry-lab demonstrations. •Serve as the clinical and technical point of contact during product evaluations and trials. Commissioning & Service •Install and commission new ESU systems at customer sites in accordance with manufacturer specifications and hospital protocols. •Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) as per service plans and manufacturer guidelines. •Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and accessory-related faults in ESU devices. •Execute corrective maintenance and repairs to restore device functionality with minimal downtime. •Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and calibration certificates for all serviced equipment. •Respond promptly to service calls and breakdowns within the agreed service-level timelines. •Ensure all serviced devices comply with IEC 60601-2-2 and applicable biomedical safety standards. •Coordinate with the technical/R&D; team and manufacturer for complex escalations, spare parts, and warranty repairs. •. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Education •Diploma B.E. / B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. (Mandatory) •Diploma in Biomedical Engineering with significant relevant experience may be considered. Experience •3–6 years of experience in medical device sales and/or servicing, preferably in surgical or operating room equipment. •Prior exposure to ESU, electrosurgery,



or high-frequency surgical devices is highly preferred. •Experience working in OT environments and engaging with surgical teams is a distinct advantage. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Technical Skills Soft Skills •ESU device operation & troubleshooting •Monopolar & bipolar electrosurgery •Preventive & corrective maintenance •Electrical safety testing (IEC 60601) •Basic circuit & fault diagnosis •OT protocol & infection control awareness •Excellent communication & presentation skills •Customer relationship management •Persuasive selling & negotiation •Problem-solving under pressure •Self-motivated & target-driven •Team collaboration & coordination KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs) •Number of product demonstrations conducted per month •Customer conversion rate from demonstration to purchase •First-time fix rate (FTFR) for service calls •Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and response time adherence •Customer satisfaction scores (post-service and post-sale feedback) •Preventive maintenance completion rate as per service schedule •Accuracy and timeliness of CRM and service documentation WORKING CONDITIONS •Frequent travel within assigned territory; occasional inter-city/inter-state travel required. •Regular presence inside operating theatres — must adhere to sterile technique and OT protocols at all times. •Availability for emergency service calls, including on weekends or outside business hours, as required. •Physical ability to carry demonstration kits and service tools to customer sites.
