A NICU Staff Nurse provides specialized round-the-clock care for premature or critically ill newborns monitoring vital signs administering medications and managing complex equipment like ventilators Responsibilities include developing care plans assisting with procedures educating parents and ensuring a sterile environment They must possess strong critical thinking compassion and the ability to work in a high-stress team-oriented environment Key Responsibilities and Duties Patient Monitoring Continuously assess neonates including heart rate respiratory status oxygen saturation and neurological function Medical Procedures Administer medications perform blood draws insert IV lines and assist with specialized procedures like intubation or line placement Technical Care Manage ventilators CPAP machines incubators and monitoring equipment Daily Care Perform essential care tasks such as feeding diaper changes and hygiene often encouraging parent participation Family Support Education Educate parents on caring for their baby including feeding and medical needs and offer emotional support during stressful times Collaboration Work within a multidisciplinary team including neonatologists respiratory therapists and specialists to manage care Requirements and Qualifications Licensure Active Registered Nurse RN license Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN is often preferred Experience Previous experience in a pediatric or ICU setting is highly valued Skills Excellent communication critical thinking empathy and ability to handle high-pressure situations Working Environment Fast-paced and Emotional High-intensity specialized and often emotional environment requiring resilience and focus Infection Control Strict adherence to safety protocols is required to protect vulnerable infants Job Types Full time Permanent Pay 25 000 00 - 35 000 00 per month Work Location In person
