Position: Weld Engineer

Location: Chennai / Coimbatore

Experience: 3–8 Years (Fabrication / Heavy Engineering / Manufacturing Industry) Job Summary

Key Responsibilities Perform weld sample inspection and support recent product welding trials. Conduct welding process audits and ensure compliance with welding standards. Handle welder/operator recruitment support, practical assessment, and skill evaluation.

Conduct welder qualification, renewal, and maintain the welder skill matrix. Coordinate and monitor NDT activities (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT) with internal and external agencies. Maintain welding complaint records and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Monitor Layered Process

Audits (LPA 1 & LPA 2) and ensure timely closure of non-conformities. Plan and execute welding characteristic audits and monitor audit compliance. Validate new and existing filler materials and welding consumables. Review preventive maintenance records of welding equipment. Perform failure analysis and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) for welding-related issues. Verify calibration and maintenance status of welding machines and equipment.

Handle Welding

Coordinator responsibilities as per ISO/EN requirements. Maintain and update Welding Quality Plan (CIPL), Welding Quality Manual, WPS, PQR,



and WPQ records. Ensure compliance with ISO 3834, EN 15085, customer requirements, and IMS documentation. Support internal, external, and customer audits related to welding quality. Coordinate with Production, Quality, NPD, and Customer teams for welding process improvements.

Required Skills Strong knowledge of welding processes (MIG, MAG, TIG, Arc Welding).

Experience in NDT methods: VT, PT, MT, UT (Normal & Angle Probe), RT. Hands-on experience in WPS, PQR, and WPQ preparation and qualification. Knowledge of welding metallurgy and filler material selection.

Expertise in Root Cause Analysis (RCCA), CAPA, and Quality Tools. Good documentation and report preparation skills. Knowledge of ISO 3834, EN 15085, ASME, AWS, and other welding standards. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and customer audits.

Educational

Qualification B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical / Welding / Metallurgical Engineering.

Preferred

Certifications ASNT Level II – VT, PT, MT, UT & RT CSWIP 3.1 / AWS CWI / AWS QC1 (Preferred) Preferred Industry Heavy Fabrication Sheet Metal Manufacturing Railway Components Pressure Vessel Manufacturing Industrial Equipment Automotive Components
