The Tire Industry
Association (TIA) has published exclusive video interviews with the 2025 Tyre Industry Hall of Fame inductees, which are now available to view on the organisation's website. This year's recipients – Tom Klinge, Peggy Fisher, Tomoshige Mizutani, and Mike Joines – have each made significant contributions to the tyre industry through decades of leadership, innovation, and service. The video content features their achievements alongside personal reflections on receiving this prestigious recognition.
The Hall of Fame exists to honour, preserve, and perpetuate the names and outstanding accomplishments of personalities who have brought lasting fame to the tyre, rubber, and transportation industries. Previous inductees include Larry Day of TBC Corp., Brent Hesje of Fountain Tyre, Chris Karbowiak of Bridgestone Americas Inc., Onkar Kanwar of Apollo Tyres, and Ralph "Buddy" Snow of Oliver Rubber. The 2025 inductees Peggy Fisher is recognised as a veteran of the truck tyre and transportation industries who guided the early years of TIA's Commercial Tyre Service (CTS) programme.
As chairperson of the committee tasked with creating the industry's first comprehensive training and certification for truck tyre service technicians, Fisher played a pivotal role in establishing professional standards within the sector. Mike Joines, founder and longtime CEO of Tire Rack,
revolutionised the tyre retail industry by creating the first e-commerce platform for online tyre retailing. His innovation fundamentally changed the way consumers researched, compared, and purchased tyres, bringing the industry into the digital age.
Tom Klinge is globally respected as a pioneer in the Off-the-Road (OTR) tyre industry. His technician training materials formed the foundation of TIA's Earthmover Tyre Service (ETS) programme, whilst his invention of tyre management software enabled mines to track individual tyres by serial number – a breakthrough in fleet management technology.
Tomoshige
Mizutani, known as "Tomo" within the industry, transformed Nitto Tire's fortunes during his tenure as president in the United States. Taking over a struggling Japanese brand in the early 1990s, he built it into a $1 billion manufacturer that played an instrumental role in creating the low-profile ultra-high performance (UHP) tyre and aftermarket wheel market.
