This role supports new product development, engineering change management, and value engineering initiatives through 3D modeling, 2D drawing creation, design validation, and cross-functional collaboration. The engineer contributes to delivering high-quality, reliable, and manufacturable products while supporting continuous product improvement throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities Develop 3D models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings for forged, cast, and sheet metal components using Creo .
Create concept models and perform design feasibility studies (DMU) to evaluate packaging, manufacturability, and product functionality.
Execute engineering changes (ECR/ECN) and manage product releases using Windchill PLM .
Perform basic engineering calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, and support Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
Support Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives to improve product cost, quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
Participate in product development activities including Value Package Introduction (VPI), Product Preceding Technology (PPT), and Value Package Change Request (VPCR) programs.
Investigate design-related product issues, perform root cause analysis, recommend corrective actions, and document technical findings.
Prepare and present design review packages while communicating design intent to cross-functional teams.
Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, simulation, validation, and customer teams to ensure robust product development and successful product launches.
Support concept selection,
design optimization, product validation, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
Develop and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, engineering bills of materials (EBOM), drawings, and technical reports.
Ensure designs comply with Cummins engineering standards, GD&T; practices, manufacturing requirements, customer expectations, and applicable industry standards.
Coordinate with internal cross-functional teams and customers to resolve technical issues and achieve project milestones.
Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant STEM discipline is required.
