Lead – Procurement (Pharmaceuticals)

We are looking for an experienced Lead – Procurement to drive strategic and end-to-end procurement activities across pharmaceutical direct and indirect categories. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in global sourcing, supplier management, commercial negotiations, cost optimization, and supply risk management, preferably within regulated markets such as the US, EU, and ROW.

This is a senior leadership role requiring close collaboration with R&D;, Manufacturing, QA/Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Finance, and Legal to ensure uninterrupted supply and support successful product development, technology transfer, scale-up, and commercialization.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute global procurement strategies for APIs, excipients, packaging materials, MRO, CAPEX, IT, and critical services.

Lead strategic sourcing and category management aligned with business and product pipeline requirements.

Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop suppliers, including CMOs, CDMOs, CROs, and raw material vendors.

Drive supplier audits, qualification, performance management, and regulatory compliance.

Build a robust supplier ecosystem through dual sourcing, alternate sourcing, and supply risk mitigation.

Lead high-value commercial negotiations, contracts, SLAs, framework agreements, and strategic supplier partnerships.

Drive cost optimization through benchmarking, volume consolidation, alternate sourcing, and supplier rationalization.

Manage procurement budgets, spend analytics, savings initiatives, and procurement ROI.

Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Planning teams to optimize inventory, safety stock, lead times, and supply continuity.

Ensure procurement processes align with applicable FDA, EMA, WHO, and CDSCO requirements.

Support QA/RA activities related to audits, regulatory submissions,



technology transfers, and commercialization.

Establish and monitor supplier KPIs including OTIF, quality, cost variance, responsiveness, and compliance.

Develop business continuity and risk mitigation plans for critical supply categories.

Lead and mentor procurement professionals while strengthening procurement governance and digital transformation.

Drive adoption of digital procurement and ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Coupa, or Ariba.

What We're Looking For

15+ years of experience in Pharmaceutical Procurement / Supply Chain.

Minimum 5–8 years of leadership experience managing strategic procurement, global sourcing, and supplier ecosystems.

Strong exposure to regulated pharmaceutical markets (US / EU / ROW).

Experience working with APIs, formulations, CDMOs, CMOs, CROs, or pharmaceutical raw material suppliers.

Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, category management, supplier qualification, contract negotiation, and cost optimization.

Robust understanding of GMP, GLP, ISO, and global regulatory requirements.

Experience with procurement and analytics tools such as SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Ariba, Advanced Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.

Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities.

Education

B.Pharm / M.Pharm / B.E. Chemical / M.Sc.

MBA in Supply Chain / Operations preferred.

Certifications such as CIPS, CPSM, PMP, or Six Sigma will be an advantage.
