We are seeking an experienced, visionary, and dynamic Principal to provide strategic, academic, and administrative leadership while ensuring the institution maintains the highest standards of quality, regulatory compliance, and student success.
Position
Summary The Principal will serve as the academic and administrative head of the institution, responsible for leading faculty and staff, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory bodies, promoting academic excellence, strengthening clinical partnerships, and driving institutional growth and innovation.
The successful candidate should possess outstanding leadership abilities, extensive knowledge of nursing education regulations, and a strong commitment to developing future healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership
Provide overall academic, administrative, and strategic leadership to the institution.
Ensure excellence in teaching, learning, clinical education, and research.
Lead curriculum planning, implementation, review, and continuous quality improvement.
Promote evidence-based nursing education and innovative teaching methodologies.
Foster research activities, faculty publications, and continuing nursing education (CNE).
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure full compliance with the latest regulations and guidelines issued by:
Indian Nursing Council (INC)
West Bengal Nursing Council (WBNC)
West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS)
State Government
Central Government
Prepare and coordinate all statutory documentation, inspections, renewals, and regulatory submissions.
Maintain institutional standards required for recognition, affiliation, and accreditation.
Administration & Governance
Supervise day-to-day academic and administrative operations.
Develop institutional policies, SOPs, and governance frameworks.
Ensure proper documentation, record management, and statutory reporting.
Oversee admissions, examinations, academic schedules, student records, and certification processes.
Monitor institutional budgets and optimal utilization of resources.
Faculty Development
Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and support faculty members.
Encourage faculty development programmes, workshops, seminars, and research initiatives.
Conduct performance evaluations and promote professional growth.
Student Welfare
Ensure a safe, inclusive, ethical, and student-centered learning environment.
Oversee student counselling, mentoring, discipline, grievance redressal, and welfare initiatives.
Promote academic excellence, professionalism, and ethical nursing practices.
Clinical & Institutional Collaboration
Strengthen partnerships with hospitals, healthcare organizations, and clinical training centers.
Ensure quality clinical postings and practical learning experiences.
Build collaborations for research, community outreach, and healthcare initiatives.
Quality Assurance & Accreditation
Lead institutional quality assurance initiatives.
Coordinate activities related to accreditation and quality improvement.
Ensure readiness for inspections and audits by regulatory authorities.
Essential Qualifications
M.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
Registration with the State Nursing Council.
Eligibility for the post of Principal as per the latest Indian Nursing Council (INC) norms.
Thorough knowledge of nursing education regulations and academic administration.
Strong understanding of institutional governance and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Nursing (Preferred).
Previous experience as Principal or Vice Principal of a Nursing College.
Experience managing INC, WBNC, and WBUHS inspections.
Experience in NAAC, NABH, NABL, or other quality assurance and accreditation initiatives.
Excellent leadership, communication, decision-making, and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal and team management abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, digital documentation, online regulatory portals, and institutional management systems.
Experience
Experience and eligibility as prescribed under the latest Indian Nursing Council (INC) norms.
Candidates with substantial experience in academic administration and institutional leadership will be given preference.
