Overview

We are seeking a Finance Manager to join the Critical Start Technologies Private Ltd. team, operating under the Critical Start umbrella, for our India operations. The ideal candidate is a Chartered Accountant (ICAI-qualified) with 10-14 years of post-qualification experience, including 4+ years in a controller or senior finance role. They bring hands-on expertise in month-end/year-end close, Ind AS financials with US GAAP/IFRS group reporting, and end-to-end statutory audits with Big 4 or top-tier firms. They're well-versed in Indian direct and indirect tax, transfer pricing, ROC/MCA, and FEMA/RBI compliance (FLA, FC-GPR, ODI, ECB).

Prior experience in the India subsidiary of a foreign (ideally US-parented) MNC, navigating dual local/global reporting, is ideal. Comfortable overseeing payroll compliance, treasury, AP/AR, and vendor relationships, with internal controls experience a plus in SOX environments. Hands-on Oracle NetSuite experience is required, and this person partners naturally with country leadership on commercial and tax matters.

This role is designated as a hybrid position. You are required to have a reliable high-speed internet connection, the ability to participate in video meetings, and a dedicated home office or private workspace suitable for professional work. As the position involves collaboration with U.S.-based teams and clients, you will be expected to work during overlapping hours with U.S. business hours, as guided by your manager.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for driving impact by contributing to our finance function. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, apply your expertise to real-world challenges, and deliver solutions that improve outcomes for customers worldwide. Your day-to-day will include:

- Month-end close:

Own the full close process (typically 5-7 business days), including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, intercompany eliminations, and flux analysis for management reporting
- Year-end close & statutory financials: Prepare standalone financials under Ind AS (or Indian GAAP if applicable), coordinate with parent for group reporting under US GAAP / IFRS
- Statutory audit: Manage the annual audit with the appointed auditors — PBC lists, walkthroughs, schedules, responding to queries, finalizing financials for board sign-off
- Tax compliance: Own direct tax (corporate income tax, advance tax, TDS/TCS filings and returns) and indirect tax (GST — monthly GSTR-1/3B, annual GSTR-9/9C, input credit reconciliation, refunds if applicable)
- Transfer pricing: Maintain TP documentation (Local File, Master File, CbCR where applicable), Form 3CEB filing, benchmarking studies, and ensure intercompany transactions align with the TP policy set with the parent
- ROC / MCA compliance: Annual filings (AOC-4, MGT-7), board meeting minutes, statutory registers, DIR-3 KYC, and any event-based filings
- FEMA / RBI compliance: FLA return, FC-GPR for any equity infusion, ODI/APR filings, ECB reporting if there's intercompany debt
- Payroll & related compliance: Oversight of payroll (usually outsourced), PF, ESI, PT, gratuity, LWF — ensure timely deposits and returns
- Treasury & banking: Cash flow forecasting, forex management, bank relationships,

AD bank documentation for inward/outward remittances
- Accounts payable & receivable: Vendor onboarding, invoice processing, employee reimbursements, collections, aging reviews
- Internal controls & SOX (if parent is US-listed): Design and operate controls, walkthroughs, remediation, coordination with internal audit
- ERP & systems: Own the India instance of the ERP (NetSuite)
- Vendor & advisor management: Manage relationships with statutory auditors, tax consultants, TP consultants, company secretary, and payroll provider
- Business partnering: Support the India country head / GM on commercial decisions, contracts review from a finance/tax lens, and any expansion or hiring plans
