About the role
This is a central, network-level position responsible for keeping connectivity fast, secure, and reliable across the five DPS campuses and Equanimity Learning. You will be the single point of ownership for campus networks — WiFi, LAN, traffic, and firewall policy — so that teaching, examinations, and administration never stop for a connectivity reason. You will act on the Director's guidance for anything material, but own the day-to-day health of the network end to end.
This is a role for someone hands-on, methodical, and comfortable being accountable for uptime across multiple sites. Key responsibilities
- Network monitoring and uptime
- Monitor WiFi and LAN performance across all five campuses, ensuring consistent coverage and uptime in classrooms, labs, admin blocks, and common areas.
- Maintain a consistent monitoring setup so that issues surface proactively through alerts, not through complaint tickets.
- Keep an up-to-date inventory and network diagram for each campus — switches, routers, access points, and cabling.
- Coordinate with ISPs and vendors for links, escalations, and service levels, and hold them to agreed terms.
- Network traffic management
- Track and analyse network traffic across campuses to understand usage patterns and capacity.
- Identify congestion, bandwidth-heavy activity, and anomalies early, before they degrade service or become outages.
- Recommend and implement improvements — segmentation, prioritisation, capacity changes — to keep performance stable as usage grows.
- Firewall and browsing security
- Configure and maintain firewalls across campuses,
enforcing browsing and content policies appropriate for a K-12 environment.
- Maintain student-safe filtering and staff access tiers, keeping the network safe for children and aligned to school policy.
- Apply basic security hygiene — VLAN segmentation, guest-network isolation, patching, and access control — and keep clean records of policy changes. Who you are
- Hands-on and technical — comfortable owning campus networks end to end rather than only escalating to vendors.
- Methodical and process-driven; you document your work and close loops without being chased.
- Calm under pressure — you treat an outage as a problem to be worked steadily, not a panic.
- A clear communicator who can explain network status and risks simply to a busy decision-maker.
- Able to work independently across sites while checking in on anything material.
Qualifications & experience
- Graduate in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or a related field.
- 1 year in network administration or engineering;
experience across multiple units or locations is an advantage.
- Hands-on with WiFi controllers, managed switches, firewalls (e.g., Fortinet / Sophos / pfSense), and network monitoring tools (PRTG, Zabbix, or similar).
- Sound understanding of VLANs, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, and content filtering.
- CCNA or equivalent, and experience with student-secure filtering, are an advantage.
- Fluent written and spoken English and Hindi. Position details
