At the heart of this initiative is the creation of a next-generation Technology Operations Center (TOC), modeled on a “mission control” concept delivering real-time visibility, proactive incident management, and intelligent automation across critical infrastructure and applications. About The Role The SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) mission specialist role within the Technology Operations Center at Mizuho involves managing and supporting the SQL Server database environments that underpin critical banking operations. This position requires a proactive approach to incident management, problem-solving, and operational discipline, ensuring the stability, performance, and security of the database platforms. The DBA will operate within a 24/7 shift pattern, providing essential support during all hours to maintain seamless service delivery.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with US infrastructure teams, follow established runbooks, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This role demands technical expertise in SQL Server administration, robust communication skills, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a proven track record supporting SQL Server environments in a multinational setting. A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is mandatory, along with foundational SQL Server certifications such as Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL fundamentals. Candidates should possess relevant experience in supporting on-premises, virtualized, and cloud-based SQL Server deployments, including Azure SQL and SQL Server on IaaS platforms.

Experience Levels Vary Based On The Role Analyst: Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience, with a solid understanding of SQL Server core concepts.

Associate: At least 4 years of experience, including installations, patching, upgrades, and incident management.

Assistant Vice President: Minimum 7 years of extensive experience, including managing large-scale incidents, professional certifications, and deep technical knowledge. Excellent communication skills in English, reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential. Familiarity with ITIL processes, ServiceNow, and high-availability concepts is advantageous but not mandatory.

Responsibilities Lead Level 1 support for SQL Server database platforms, managing service alerts and incidents promptly and professionally.

Operate within a rotating shift pattern covering early, late, and overnight shifts, ensuring 24/7 support coverage.





Follow established runbooks meticulously, ensuring accurate incident response, documentation, and escalation procedures.

Act as a first responder to database incidents, aiming for rapid recovery and thorough root cause analysis.

Monitor database health, performance metrics, backup and restore operations, and replication status, troubleshooting issues proactively.

Collaborate with US infrastructure teams to review incident reports, update runbooks, and implement process improvements.

Mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster continuous learning.

Contribute to operational efficiency by suggesting improvements in SLA adherence, incident reduction, and MTTR.

Perform deep technical analysis of recurring issues, including indexing, storage utilization, and performance bottlenecks.

Ensure compliance with security policies, risk management standards, and company controls in all operational activities.
