About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join Mizuho's state-of-the-art Global Capability Center in Pune. This pivotal role involves supporting Mizuho Americas' IT operations within a cutting-edge Technology Operations Center modeled on a “mission control” concept.

The DBA will be responsible for providing Level 1 support for SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. The successful candidate will work within a 24x7 rotating shift pattern, collaborating closely with US infrastructure teams to maintain operational excellence. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a global team, contributing to critical incident management, proactive monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives that underpin Mizuho’s technological resilience and innovation.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background in Computer Science or Engineering, complemented by relevant certifications in SQL Server administration.



Proven experience in supporting SQL Server environments across various deployment models—including on-premises, virtualized platforms, and cloud-based solutions—is essential.

Excellent troubleshooting skills, a disciplined approach to operations, and effective communication abilities are required. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive mindset, a commitment to learning, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience working in a global banking or regulated environment, familiarity with ITIL processes, and knowledge of high-availability solutions are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

- Serve as the MSSQL DBA mission specialist within the Technology Operations Center, leading Level 1 support for service alerts and incidents related to SQL Server databases.
- Participate in a rotating 24x7 shift schedule, including early, late, and overnight shifts, ensuring continuous operational coverage.
- Adhere strictly to runbooks and operational procedures, maintaining professionalism, timeliness, and accuracy in incident handling.
- Act as the first responder for database incidents, executing recovery procedures swiftly and effectively to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with US infrastructure teams to review incidents, update runbooks, and implement improvements based on operational insights.
- Monitor, triage, and troubleshoot SQL Server alerts, job statuses, backup results, replication issues, and performance bottlenecks.
- Lead in-depth analysis of recurring incidents and unresolved performance issues, proposing solutions to enhance stability and efficiency.




- Maintain detailed incident reports, ensure clear shift handovers, and document actions taken to facilitate continuous knowledge sharing.
- Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and continuous development.
- Identify opportunities for operational enhancements, including SLA adherence, incident reduction, and MTTR improvements.
- Develop and execute support and recovery procedures, leveraging technical expertise in SQL Server administration, T-SQL scripting, and performance tuning.
