Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Interior Design & Projects Manager to lead the design direction and end-to-end execution of interior fit-out projects across our retail store network. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in interior design as well as hands-on experience managing retail store projects from concept through to store opening. This role requires strong design sensibility, exceptional project management capabilities, technical understanding, stakeholder management, and the ability to deliver projects within budget, timeline, and quality standards.
As an Interior Design & Projects Manager, you will lead design development and collaborate with architects, contractors, vendors, landlords and internal business teams to ensure design intent is translated accurately into seamless on-ground execution while maintaining brand quality benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Concept Development
- Develop and finalize store design concepts, layouts, and specifications in line with brand guidelines
- Prepare and review design drawings, mood boards, material palettes, and finish schedules
- Collaborate with external designers/architects (where applicable)
and ensure design consistency across all store formats
- Adapt design concepts to suit varying store sizes, locations, and site constraints, including features like baby care rooms, in-house clinics, and waiting areas
Project Planning & Execution
- Manage end-to-end execution of interior fit-out projects for new store openings, renovations, and refreshes
- Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies for multiple concurrent store projects
- Monitor project progress across multiple locations, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to ensure timely store openings
Site Management
- Supervise on-site execution to ensure the built store matches approved design intent and brand specifications
- Conduct site inspections, quality audits, and progress reviews to maintain consistent store execution standards
- Ensure safety compliance and adherence to site protocols throughout the project duration
- Resolve on-ground technical, design, and vendor issues while minimizing delays to store opening timelines
Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, fabricators, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage procurement coordination and ensure timely delivery of materials, fixtures, and equipment
Documentation & Compliance
- Review BOQs, technical drawings,
material specifications, and work orders
- Ensure adherence to local building codes, landlord requirements, safety regulations, and brand construction standards
Budget & Reporting
- Track project costs, monitor budgets against actuals, approve invoices, and control project expenditures
- Prepare regular project status reports and communicate updates to leadership and operations team
- Lead project handovers, snag closures, and final quality inspections before store handover
Requirements & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Interior Design, or Architecture
- 3–6 years of experience in interior design and project management, ideally within retail or commercial environments
- Proven experience handling multiple store/retail projects simultaneously, from design concept to on-time delivery
- Robust design sensibility along with practical understanding of interior fit-out processes and construction feasibility
- Experience working with contractors, vendors, landlords, and cross-functional internal teams
- Knowledge of project scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and vendor management
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel frequently across project sites/regions
- Software proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, MS Project or Primavera, and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with procurement management, quantity surveying, and BOQ preparation/verification
- Strong understanding of safety compliance and interior finishing standards
