– Costing / Estimation Engineer Department: Estimation / Tendering

Job Summary

The Costing / Estimation Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, budgets, and BOQs for MEP and laboratory projects. The role involves analyzing drawings, specifications, vendor quotes, and project requirements to support competitive and technically sound proposals. Key Responsibilities:

· Review project tender documents, drawings, and specifications to understand the scope of work.

· Prepare cost estimates for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) and Laboratory fit-out works including fume hoods, workbenches, and specialized lab equipment.

· Develop Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and pricing sheets for materials, labor, subcontractors, and overheads.

· Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and ensure competitive pricing.

· Analyze design inputs and propose value engineering options to optimize project cost without compromising quality.

· Coordinate with Design, Sales, and Procurement teams for technical and commercial alignment.

· Support Sales and Project teams in tender clarifications, pre-bid meetings,



and client discussions.

· Maintain a database of material and labor rates for cost benchmarking.

· Prepare project cost comparison sheets and assist management in decision-making.

· Participate in post-tender reviews and support cost control during execution stages when required.

Qualifications & Skills:

· Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.

· 3–8 years of experience in estimation / costing within MEP or laboratory contracting projects.

· Strong knowledge of MEP services, HVAC systems, cleanroom design, laboratory furniture, and exhaust systems.

· Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and estimation software/tools.

· Good understanding of tendering procedures, project documentation, and cost analysis.

· Robust communication and negotiation skills.

· Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to work under deadlines.

Preferred

Experience

· Experience in EPCM / turnkey laboratory construction or cleanroom projects.

· Exposure to SEFA / ISO / NABL standards (added advantage).
