Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Medical Coder at WNS.
The Medical
Coder will review clinical documentation and assign appropriate medical codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services in accordance with current coding guidelines and payer requirements.
Responsibilities include validating documentation accuracy, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards, and supporting claims submission and revenue cycle integrity.
The role involves working with electronic health records (EHR), querying providers when documentation is incomplete or unclear, and collaborating with quality assurance teams on audits and coding improvements.
The Medical
Coder will also stay updated on coding changes, payer policies, and industry best practices to maintain high accuracy and productivity.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated Coding Experience and proficiency in Medical Coding across multiple specialties or care settings.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology and Health Information Management practices to accurately interpret clinical documentation.
- Relevant certification such as RHIT or equivalent credential in health information or coding.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and commitment to accuracy and compliance in all coding activities.
- Experience working with EHR systems and billing platforms, with the ability to meet productivity and quality targets in a remote environment.
- Understanding of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems, as well as payer and reimbursement guidelines.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
