Material Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Material Engineer with 13 years of experience in Material Cataloguing, Material Master Data Management, Data Cleansing, Data Enrichment, and Data Standardization.
The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of engineering materials, spare parts, material descriptions, material classification, Noun & Modifier methodology, UNSPSC coding, and Bill of Materials (BOM). The candidate will be responsible for analyzing source data and converting material information into accurate, structured, and standardized master data.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Structure Material and Service Descriptions using Noun & Modifier methodology, class attributes, and appropriate Units of Measurement (UOM).
- Analyze source data received from OEMs, manufacturers, vendors, engineering documents, and existing catalogs.
- Perform Data Cleansing to identify and correct incomplete, inaccurate, duplicate, or inconsistent material records.
- Perform Data Enrichment by reviewing available technical information and adding relevant material attributes and specifications.
- Perform Data Standardization of material descriptions, technical attributes, units of measurement, and other master data elements.
- Map material attributes and assign appropriate Group Codes and Logic Codes (UNSPSC) for accurate classification.
- Identify Maintainable Spare Parts based on equipment and maintenance requirements.
- Support the identification and preparation of Bills of Materials (BOM) for equipment and spare parts.
- Maintain and update Material Master Data and Vendor Master Data within defined SLA timelines.
- Support the coding and conversion of existing catalogs into a structured and standardized format.
- Review existing catalog records and identify duplicate, obsolete, incomplete, or incorrect material records.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of material descriptions and technical attributes.
- Coordinate with senior team members and project stakeholders to clarify technical information and resolve data discrepancies.
- Follow established Material Cataloguing Standards, Data Quality Guidelines, and Master Data Governance procedures.
- Process large volumes of material records while maintaining high data accuracy and quality.
- Prepare and maintain activity reports related to material cataloguing, data quality, and project progress.

Technical Knowledge
- Basic understanding of Engineering Materials and Spare Parts.

- Basic knowledge of UNSPSC Classification and Material Coding.
- Ability to identify duplicate, incomplete, and inconsistent material records.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including Filters, Sorting, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Data Validation, and basic data cleansing.
- Exposure to SAP MM, SAP MDG, ERP, MMS, or similar systems will be an added advantage.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in Material Cataloguing, Master Data Management, Engineering Data Management, Spare Parts Management, or related fields.
Preferred Industry Experience Experience in any of the following industries will be an advantage:
